Forgot to mention that the late, great, RAF hero, Douglas Bader opened one of our local jumble sales back in the 60's. As a scrawny, shy kid I plucked up the courage to ask him for his autograph, but he refused, stating that if he signed one for me, he'd have to sign one for everyone. Still...
ww2 escape movies
Slightly off topic, but still on Irvins - Back in the 60's (yes, shows my age) when I was a kid living in the UK I watched a movie about an RAF plane that was shot down behind enemy lines, I think in Germany. The movie is about the crew trying to make it back home, travelling...
Love the advertisment shot of the Eastman jacket eyemo - brilliant! And very clever too - perfectly posed. I think krasno35 did a brilliant job too a little way back, walking in a field with his kit - also spot on. And smithy, yes I'd love an Eastman to compliment my B9, but am I right in...
Yes, Noble House have tried to boost sales with nice advertising, but how does that differ from any other modern company. They tell me that the only people that fear them are their competitors. Their Irvin's...may not be identical to the originanal with the side pockets, but what is it that...
I know what you mean, spitfire -maybe not originanal with the side pockets, but what is it that they say: if you don't adapt you die...especially in battle. I wore the B9 out tonight for the first time and in a cold Hobart night I was bloody glad of the pockets! Looked bloody good in the pub...
Hi Smithy,
It looks like you're in Norway at the moment, so how come the move to Australia? You've obviously been before? You'll still get some use out of your jackets though. It's hot in summer, but cool in winter, especially up in the snow fields. I visit Melbourne a few times a year...
These jackets are obviously worn on the ground for show. They must have the ok from the airforce hierarchy though. My guess is that the company offers them jackets for free, or very cheap for promotional purposes. It's a two way street. Company gets advertising, guys get free/cheap jackets...
Just some feedback regarding my B9. Have been corresponding with Mara from Noble House in Germany. She couldn't be any friendlier. Has listened to my concerns about my shearling leather. More than happy to refund, but stands by the quality of their jackets. She says some companies have more...
Thanks for the pictures Smithy. That's how the pics on Easman's website should look - makes me drool!

I've done a search on the Eastaman site and I can't see fibres poking out of their outer skins. But, what I find dissapointing about many of these online companies is that the pictures of their products are low res and often you can't even see the whole jacket. A member of my staff has her own...
Thanks insOma. Cabella's seem to have a good, cheap one too. Anyway, I went over my B9 in detail today before deciding to return it or not and, looking closely, there were a lot of woolen fibres on the outside, like bits of wool that had been left when the jacket was cut. Tried to brush them...
Wow!! Hey, krasno35, that's my favourite pic on this site so far - two up - walking in the field with the map bag etc.!! Nice setup!
And further to my previous postings on my B9 - I went over it in detail today before deciding to return it or not and, looking closely, there were a lot of...
Thanks guys. I found a bit of the outer leather tucked away on the inside of the jacket, normally out of sight and scraped at it with a sharp implement. To my surprise the top surface didn't peel away like cheap vinyl. It was tough and took some scraping before I finally got to the under layer...
