I never see the logic of a company dragging out remnants of their glory days.
Contrary to a comment made in the article I'd say that ancient pair of denim is far removed from the founders' vision.

Having said that I do like my 201s..

One of my favorite pairs of jeans are a LEE repro copied from a pair of 100 year old waist overalls found in a barn. They were a limited European run that cost a bundle but well worth it!

O.K. I'm 50 and all, so I'm an old coot, BUT I have a lot of trouble paying $100 for blue jeans. They're just blue jeans for GAWD's sake. $100 wool flannel o.k., $60 for a dress shirt or even more, but it's like the $90 t-shirt I saw on Rodeo drive, it can't possibly be worth it.

Crawling back in my old guy cave...

The difference is indeed massive. 14 oz selvedge denim that has a tight weave and is dyed with real indigo. The colour difference is immense. The quality of construction is unbeatable. They still put the copper rivets in the back pockets, and they fit like a glove. They wear incredibly well with age. A friend of mine has the 1947 Levis Vintage jeans, and his have faded to a great colour.

I will concede that paying $220 is a lot of money for jeans when you compare them against the $35 shrink to fit 501s, but everything about them is genuine, American made and American constructed. The quality of the jean is exactly as it was 50+ years ago, and for that, Im willing to fork over the extra cash for a pair of jeans that will last me many years to come.

Doesn't help that Im listening to a whole lot of Hank Williams right now either! :D
