Cowboy Boots

Here is a pair of RRL (used to be RL Western) nubucks. These were made for RL by Rios of Mercedes. Had them for awhile but never made it in the rotation. Probably gonna be for sale before too long. (I never make impulse buys)

They look good. Perfect with a well worn pair of blue jeans, although I would be hard pressed to go for another pair of nu-buck boots.

My second pair. After what I did to the first pair, probably why I never worked these into the rotation. Scared.

It's one of the anomalies of Ralph Lauren and Polo. No advertisement on their western wear, at least the RRL stuff, though it's some of the nicest around. I have some of their western shirts with real mother of pearl snaps. The boots are sold in limited numbers, 50 or so I'm told, in select locations.
Several years ago, in my ElPaso fitting session with Pedro Munoz, owner of Stallion, I admired these Moonburst inlaid boots and he told me they were originally run up for Ralph Lauren. I didn't ask if he meant that for personal use or on spec for a RL Western collection. He has had them in his line for several years now; very handsome and I'd order a pair, but I'm not a big fan of black, and they don't have the vibrant punch in brown.

Also, you may have seen Orvis' fancy green/brown inlayed boots around several years back. They were made by J.B. Hill and were finally dispatched by Orvis on discount at their outlet as nobody up here in VT/Upstate NY knew what really good boots were about, much less accustomed to the prices they commanded.

Agreed, I have a leather with woven-leather designs over-shirt with starburst metal buttons that is simply a knock out. I found it on a discount high-end clothing site and still paid a pretty penny for it. Never wear it without getting oohs and aaahs--even in NYS.

I have seen his western clothing in high-end stores in Santa Fe and Whitefish, MT, but never the boots. The very high-end stores, like Axel's in Vail, usually carry Stallion and J.B. Hill, and RRL would be a step down for them.

Two pairs of Luccheses 12 D for SALE:
I am about to put up on ePrey a couple of pairs of Luccheses that no longer fit my old, spreading 12.5 E foot. The first are Black Teju Lizard 1883, with a moderate round toe and tan stitching; barely broken in. I'd like to get $200 for them.

The second pair are the REAL DEAL San Antonio Luccheses in tan French Calf with French Toe and killer stove pipe Spanish tops with tan stitching. The are collectable, from mid-1970s; just look at the detailing and stitching, WOW!

Unfortunately they are San Antonio 12D which means more like 11.5D in today's sizing, unless you are a narrow, smallish 12. I also have a high instep, so they are exceptionally tight for me to get into and out of, but they are nevertheless magnificent in original (regularly Bicked) condition and barely broken in.

These are made on the last and the quality that Pedro Munoz at Stallion works on today....starting at $1100...
I'm asking $350 for these.

TipTop, two nice pair, especially the San Antonio ones. Unusual design on those, unfortunately nowhere near my size. I bet they move though.

I spotted a butterfly today.

Another pair of my Blucher boots. Calfskin with butterfly inlay based on style #224 from Blucher's original catalog. Blucher's are built like a tank and if you're not familiar with their history, they're the oldest continually operating custom made cowboy boot co. in the country.

Wow! Those are fantastic Bamaboots. A classic design, the butterfly inlay has been around about as long as cowboy boots have been around. The stitching is excellent around the tops and inlay, too.

Here's a couple pair from around my house.

These are my wife's, made by Champion Attitude.

Mine, by Rocketbuster, from back in the days before I had kids and could afford such things.

dh66, Nice! I like both pair a lot. Yeah, butterflies and eagles have been around a long time. Glad to see those. Now if we can get others to kick this thread up every now and then.

I don't collect a lot of factory boots but the ones I usually have my eye out for are Tony Lama's. Especially the El Rey's, Gold Label and their boots from the early 60's. Been looking for this pair for awhile in my size and in a condition and price I was willing to pop for. These fit the bill, looking as if they have been worn lightly. From the 80's.

Man! I love those, Bamaboots! I have a well worn pair, but with cowhide wingtips instead of lizard. Probably got them around 90-91, new. My first pair of sure enough, hand made, good quality boots. They've been resoled four or five times. I really got my money's worth out of them back in the day. Now they just sit on the shelf and look good. I'm a half size bigger now than when I got them, and a few years back I broke my left ankle, and now I can't even get one on that foot any more.:(
They definately were a favorite pair.
