Do you like it? I saw it on their website and thought it was blah and unexciting. It's $395 plus shipping, and I can't even say I would prefer it over an $80 Carhartt.

Ditto. I just today received the Northwest Wool Shrt I ordered from Filson last week and it is really nice:

I checked out the Rainier supply jacket when it came out but it didn't grab me. Filson's woolens, on the other hand, are hard to pass up.

I love Filson ornthe idea of how it once was. It may still produce very nice garments, but my recent experiences with LL Bean and the current quality of their foreign made clothing has caused me to be wary. Now, when I buy LL Bean, I search for and wait it out on eBay for vintage, well preserved, pieces. They’re great. I just can’t do the new imported pieces or am afraid to anymore.

The Filson jacket is made in America of imported materials. Does LL Bean make anything in America anymore?

I too was meh on the Supply Jacket given the price. I'm still smitten with my Mackinaw Work Jacket--similar in style to the above but in wool (and it's lined)--it was discontinued and I've seen them on Ebay and other places for very good prices--

Also just got an email announcing Filson's winter sale--only a handful of items but some good prices. They tend to add more stuff as time goes on.

Nearly all of Filson’s jackets are made in the USA, their wonderful bags are made here as well except for the material which I believe is sourced from England. I live in Seattle and have visited the factory, watched seen both jackets and bags being sewn. I know that their shirts are outsourced but they are still very nice. In fact all of the gear is still extremely nice. It’s winter time here in the Pacific Northwest which means= Filson time.

I was just at the FILSON mother ship 6 weeks back. They have a whole first floor of people making things that you can watch which is really neat. It's a new-old building, not far from the original one. While much of their gear is made here, many shirts (lesser expensive) are made overseas. It bums me out as even their less expensive shirts cost well over $100.
But I still buy when on sale (PS - it's on sale now).
Woolrich is the same. Better items made here, others overseas.
I try to buy as much as I can of US-made items, assuming they're up to snuff. If you're near Seattle, hit the FILSON shop.

Also wanted to add that in addition to the Filson HQ Store here in Seattle, there is also a Filson factory outlet about 30min north of the city in Tulalip, WA (just past Everett on your way up the I5 to Vancouver BC). I was at the outlet last week and they had Navy Mackinaw Cruisers, Navy and grey Makinaw Work Jackets, rucksacks, and quite a bit of other tin cloth jackets, pants, etc... most were a third to half off retail, some were 70% off. The inventory changes at their outlet all the time so you never know what they have until you get there.

Yep, I even have it in that same color. It was on sale for around $50.00, down in the stockyards area. And, as much as I enjoy Filson gear, there still has to be a discernible value to the purchase.

I have a carhartt Detroit jacket and it’s a fantastic jacket.. triple stitched and built for the apocalypse whilst looking good at the same time. For £80 I paid I feel like I ripped carhartt off the quality is that good
