Most versatile Aero jacket? What do you think?

My personal love is the Teamster in Brown, it can go with black if you combo it such as Brown boots(for me), black trousers, brown belt, tan or earth colours shirt topped off with the Teamster. Not too long to be a coat, not to heavy, looks good with jeans or trousers, great with a trilby(Fedora to our US friends) or without looks stylish fully buttoned or part and even totally undone. With that semi bi swing back it's so stylish folks stop and look and sometimes ask where you got it from. What other make of coat has an ordinary street urchin quiz you on your clothes?
For me the Teamster is a do it all.

I find this concept of "versatility" weird...
The jacket will look the same whatever else you are wearing and whatever the situation!
Whether it is acceptable completely depends on who you are, what you do, what the situation you are wearing it in is, and most importantly, can you dress yourself.
Any jacket can be worn anywhere i think, it just depends how you do it.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I don't agree. A full-rig side zip motorcycle jacket is going to look pretty strange with a shirt and tie. I'm not saying it can't be done and I try to not judge others in the way they dress, but it is going to stand out like a sore thumb.

Yes, some jacket designs will struggle more than others to be domesticated.

I'm on the phone atm or I'd post some images, but that's how they were advertised back in the day. Schott, Buco, the lot: collar and tie under them. Of course, there don't seem to be so many photos of them actually being worn like that back in the day. Brown leather with brass appointments can soften the look somewhat, but they're definitely going to stick out as "odd" more in some contexts.

I wore my Heron to work today with a dress shirt and tie. Kinda pulled it off. Someone said the Shinki looked bulletproof.

I emailed Carrie at Thurston Bros. with my measurements. For my short stocky frame she has suggested 4 jackets, all half belted designs: the Moonshiner, the Maxwell, the 30's Half Belt, and the Sunburst. She's also recommended goatskin, vicenza hh, battered fqhh, and battered sh.

Regarding the models suggested, I don't think I care for the elaborate back on the Sunburst, nor the almost horizontal handwarmer pockets, but other than that I like it. For the 30's HB I'm not sure I like the pleated back, but then again that might be okay when I put it on, and other than that it's very nice. I like both the Moonshiner and the Maxwell as button up options.

Of these I think the Maxwell has the most refined look, the Moonshiner the least conventional or edgiest, and the 30's HB and SB are both very normal conservative looking jackets.

Regarding the leather suggestions... I think the only thing I like battered is fried chicken. Nah, it's okay, just kind of a predistressed look about it... pretty casual only I think. The goatskin and vicenza are both very nice, and everyone says they'll retain their "newness" the longest. That can be a good thing or not depending on your perspective. I still really like Brown FQHH a lot -- the look of it as it breaks in is great, but it is rather thick to wear in warmer climates I suppose -- but from pure looks alone it's my favorite.

I'm not keen on the battered Aero hide either. I've seen other "pre-beat" skins, and some are OK, but I would go with a light/medium hide for sure. Shinki or Vincenza would be great. Just my 2¢

Carrie will fit your body type very well. She is also very intuitive as far as what style you are looking for. Sorry to be redundant, but I call her The Jacket Whisperer. She sold me my first high end Jacket. A LHB Vincenza. Most say it is my best Jacket. Sometimes I wish I had just stoppered there, but I got the bug.

I would indicate that even where you live FQHH should not be overly warm. I think you'll find it just fine, especially if you stick with a cotton drill-type lining. I wear a FQHH Sheene and J106 until it's in the mid-60's without issue, and both of them have the Wool tartan liner, not cotton. If riding a bike, I could wear either of these until the 70's and be fine.

That's a great fit ProteinNerd. I seem to remember you being torn between a 40 and 42 in a board racer. Is the Sheene a 38 or a 40?

The issue with the above image is I'm not sure it's if it's referencing a bad or a good look. I think because the model has a worn, middle-aged face he kind of gets away with it. But the exact same outfit won by a 22 year-old would probably look forced.
