Wearing a Homburg

Ha! That "discretionary" fund is probably closed now, I scared myself!

(Yeah, he says that now, just wait until a 7-3/8 long oval Stratoliner pops up...)

I've only paid big bucks for one or two hats (besides my brand-new Stetsons, before I discovered the Lounge, dammit!)

That Cavanagh Homburg is a honey. It looks great on my build and face and head shape, and it fits wonderfully. I really need a 7-7/16 hat, most 7-3/8 are too snug and 7-1/2 hits my ears.

And after wearing my vintage British Bowler to work and having everyone just take it in stride (got a few compliments) I no longer have any diffidence about wearing a Homburg. ;)

I must chime in and agree how Homburg hats belong on YOUR head.

Thanks, and congrats on getting those two sweet Stetson Homburgs!

The black one with the maroon band was sooooo tempting, even though it's too small. I can sorta wear a 7-1/4, but very high on my head and it's not comfortable.

I don't think I could wear anything less than a suit with a homburg. It looks too "Kid Rock" otherwise.

Yep, I agree. I will wear mine with a dark business suit. It really looks good with my Chesterfield coat.

I wonder if having a little grey hair brings the "Homburg look" together? ;)

That is known as having a "little snow on the mountaintop."

The snow in the photo is on one of the lions at the New York Public Library.

And I definitely need a topcoat. :) Well, not right now, as it's hot and humid, but in a few months.

:eek:fftopic: I have a beautiful topcoat I picked up in Italy. It's not vintage, but it's 70% Cashmere and I picked it up for almost nothing.

I live in Florida, and it didn't get cold enough once last winter to wear it. I think I've worn it twice in three years. Don't even ask if I want to sell/give it away.

The length of the topcoat along with the homburg creates, I think, a gentelmanly look...a nice walking stick or an umbrella would also go nicely!

The homburg is a 'grown-up' hat. Worn with a slight tilt will let all know that there is a lot fun yet to be had!

I wore this D'Aquino to my nephew's wedding last Saturday. I also have a black Beaver Brand Homburg I wore to my mother's funeral in April. I used to think Fedoras were way cooler but I think I have changed my mind and plan to look for more homburgs.
Can't recall ever seeing this thread before, but good to see it revived. It takes a bit of time to adjust yourself to wearing a homburg, but once you're in....

If money is tight you will be amazed at what you can find on eBay or thrift shops in New condition at a fraction of what new costs.
