Shorts

I hated shorts when I was younger because as a rockabilly kid I couldn't imagine James Dean or one of the Stray Cats wearing shorts! As I got into older Golden Era styles, though, and discovered this place, I saw some posts of scans from vintage Esquire and Gentleman's Quarterly magazines showing men's summer holiday styles in the 1930s. There were quite a few pics of shorts and so now, on the right occasion such as leisure/sporting activities, I will wear a neat pair of dress shorts in a vintage style.

For me, the issue with shorts has always been finding appropriate footwear

As a Psychobilly in the 1980's I wore bleached Levi shorts (chopped jeans) with brogues & a black leather jacket.

30 odd years later & my Pike Bros 'Hunting Pants' have worn through at the knees from teaching Resuscitation at work.

Having purchased a new pair of Pike Pants, the old ones are now a pair of shorts..first time I've worn shorts in about 30 years.

Given the current heat-wave in the UK, US Army vests (Pike & ELC) are getting mucho action. Conceivably I can be seen out in shorts & a 'Wife-beater'..OK in a Bar / Pub, but wouldn't wear them of an evening when eating out.
