I'll Lock Up

In my ongoing search to find vintage-able working/adventuring clothing from diverse and alternative sources, and taking into account that mens' pants didn't change style much from the later 19thC to the mid 20th- I considered the pants worn by 'Action Shooters' and Old West reenactor types. I was looking for sturdy, straight legged pants with button fly, suspender buttons, a raised-back 'V' notch waist and a rear cinch belt/buckle- The ones I have received are mustard/tan canvas, (euchh! perhaps but in my colour wheel) have all the above-mentioned vintage features and are 'jeans-like' in cut. They have wide-ish straight legs and are not SO full through the seat and crotch as you'd expect but not tight by any means- kind of looser, vintage jeans fitting. They're high-waisted- at the front, they cover my belly-button, the back is around an inch higher and with the wasit cinch, there's very functional adjustability.
The front pockets are of the square-cut Western style with a tabbed outer corner, which I like- when you slide your hands in you can see the sense. Single right back welt pocket. Many of you may be familiar with these repro Western style pants- some may not.
The ones I have are 'C.O.W.S.' brand- 'Classic Old West Styles' but there are a few brands to be had, such as 'Scully' and 'WahMaker'.
They're relatively cheap too- $30-$50-ish for something a bit different and well made.
Compare to 'premium' products like RM Williams- $110-$200 for virtually the same kind of thing- Western/Outback style workwear.... talk about diversity of market economies.
They come in plain colours in twills and canvas and other cloths and also pinstripes and other patterns and cuts.
Well, I like them- they're a good pair of vintage style working man's pants, tough and surprisingly well made for the price. Western style or not, they're pretty cool. The Western thing isn't perhaps that obvious if you don't want it to be.
Anyway- maybe a source for something different and
vintage-workman-esque for some of you.
