This is a recent acquisition, that I've only worn three or four times (counting today). It's a Stetson Sovereign. The tag under the sweatband says, "WINDHAM."

Check out this edge. It's both bound and folded back. There's a name for it, but it escapes me, at the moment.

I like it more, every time I wear it.

So, when was it made? Sometime in the last two years! It's available from several suppliers, right now. I found mine at one of my favorite places, in Garland, Texas. (Once again, I am not now nor have I ever been an employee of HATCO. I do, however like some of their products.)

That's a bizarre edge treatment. Is it sewn down, like an overwelt, or is the bound bit free from the other part of the brim?

Would someone have attempted to reduce the brim size by folding it back and sewing it down? Never seen that style before..ever! Otherwise, nice hat, J.T.!

No, It's not a "one of a kind." It is a current production model. You can buy one, too, if you were so inclined. I did a search on "Stetson Windham", and found several sites offering it for sale. This is Stetson's own photo, from their official web-site.

We will have the Windham along with a few others on our website next week . The Windham is a very different looking hat and have been a popular seller here in our stores. Finally , Stetson has come up with something interesting for a change.

Looks really good on you, too

Really nice rich and warm looking color and style.

I had my eye on the Windham a while ago. Thanks for posting pics of it (esp. on your head). It looks great.

A clever way to get a little line or ribbon a little further in from the edge. That edge might look quite striking with a different coloured ribbon, too.

If someone wanted to be really fancy, they could bind the edge, fold it over as with this hat, sew it down, and then put another binding around the new edge, giving two thin bands of ribbon around the edge, with a little felt showing in between. With a two-tone striped ribbon, in the right colours, that could be really nifty, although I guess it would only work on a VERY thin felt.
