Early 1930's Suits & Sportcoats & Vests. One of my best finds!

Hello everyone! I have not posted on the lounge for quite some time as I have simply had no time. I have been going to school and working non-stop. I now have more time on my hands and I couldn't wait to show these to you.

All of these items I am posting today date between 1932-1933.

Here's the story:

A few months ago I was walking around a local flee market. As I got near the end, after hours of finding absolutely nothing, I spotted material from about thirty feet away. "That look 30's," I said to my girlfriend. I almost ran to the table, which held a dark blue 1930's jacket and matching vest. To my dissapointment, I could already see that it was way too small for me (and I am already a short guy). Out of curiosity, I asked the seller what the price was. He replied, "Oh. I've got a lot more of that stuff in the trash bag at your feet. There are a bunch of jackets and some of those white slacks from the 1930's. Give me $30 for the whole bag." I quickly replied, "Sight unseen, you have a deal." I quickly pulled the $30 from my wallet and carried away the enormous trash bag. I coudn't wait to see what I had just bought, so I stopped about fifty feet away and shuffled through the bag. Here is the list of what I pulled out that day:

- 1 three piece suit dated 1932
- 1 two piece imported linen suit of the same age
- 3 suit jackets with matching vests of the same age
- 2 pairs of white linen slacks
- 3 pairs of white cotton slacks
- about 25 white handkerchiefs
- 3 pairs of boxer shorts
- 4 tanktops
- 2 pairs of pajamas

Unfortunately, the suit and jackets are way too small. But, the two pairs of white linen slacks do fit me. I haven't taken pics of everything yet, but I will post them when I do.
Except for the white linens, everyone of the items are in almost mint condition. there are no holes, rips, fading or stains.
Ultimately, I plan to hold on to these In the hopes that a future son of mine will have the same appreciation for this stuff as we all do.

Wow, those are beautiful suits in beautiful condition and beautifully displayed. In a word very-nice.

That's ridiculous! What a find! Congratulations. That linen suit is real sharp. I really dig the heavily angled breast pocket.

What a find!! Look at those pen pockets in the waistcoats- and the cut in the gray one with an extended button panel? Those linings are beautiful as well!
I wonder why all of them are square bottomed instead of curved at the skirt...you usually see that with double breasted that have been converted to single breasted jackets.

NOt sure how many of you were reading the recent threaqds about what the lounge is all about.

All I can say is that while I am not so into discussing every monor details of a suit ad infinitum, as far as I am conerened, this is what the lounge is all about. A good story, some sweent suits, and some fantastic pics. Great job. Nice to see you posting agian.

That is one spectacular score! I think it's so cool that you're going to save the stuff for your son. Bravo!

I miss the days when people would be posting stuff like this weekly, even daily!

What's the eyelet between the first two buttonholes on those waistcoats? I've never seen that detail before.

I believe those are for pocket watch chains.
Instead of running the hook through a buttonhole there is an extra hole.

What a great find. Pity they're so small, eh? those would be great suits to wear around town.

The title of your thread suggests there have been other finds like this. Only in California!

For a watch chain. Not uncommon in the 1930s, but an extra 'button hole' was the easier and commoner way to do the same thing.

Remarkable! The fabrics are amazing - my favourite is the navy blue, though all are the bee's knees. Squared coat bottoms, pointed waistcoat bottoms.
