Panama Hat and dark suit?

Hi,

I was wondering if it 'acceptable' to wear a white Panama hat with a dark suit (such as you would wear to a funeral). We had a death in the family, my dark hats are felt, and the weather on Friday is supposed to be warm enough that I'll be uncomfortable with the heavy weight hat.

Of course, if no hat is more appropriate for the graveside service, please let me know that as well.

thank you,
French

My memory is sometimes fuzzy, but I do believe I've seen a picture (posted hereabouts) of a preacher wearing a dark suit with a Panama hat. You will, of course, want to remove your hat, upon entering a church sanctuary or funeral home chapel. At grave side, the hat should be removed if you are seated. If you're standing, the hat should be removed for any and all prayers. :)
