Akubra Campdraft - WOW.

Just saw a site with a 17 year old Akubra catalog. Akubra had license to make the Open Road from Stetson and when that ran out they simply changed the name to Campdraft.

It seems kind of funny that Stetson should still call their's Open Road, since it only comes in a cattleman's crease. Maybe "Cattleman's Trail" would be more appropriate.

Well,
don't keep it to yourself, where is this catalogue?
(I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd be interested)

Will I hate to be the bearer of bad news. But Villiage hats in San Diego dosn't list Akubra as a brand they carry.

Thanks for the tip Magus! I have learned that the San Diego store keeps fur felts in the back, including Akubras and I will talk to the buyer about their internet strategy.

I really need to get a Campdraft.

I thought I would just add my new Campdraft to this post. Scotrace for the money this is a great hat. I had some doubts about it when I first got it because of my long oval and it was a little large, but i've been wearing it every day and it seems to be adjusting to me very well. A Campdraft is worth the 3 month wait.

I put a diamond crease in mine just because I like it better than a c crown, but it's just a matter of what you like.

Ken, I take it that color is what Akubra calls silverbelly or sand? The color looks different than the one posted here, but maybe it's the light:

I have two Akubras now, and I plan to add two more, one of which will be a silverbelly Campdraft, the other a gray Fed. They are, in fact, great hats.

By the way, your hat appears to have a wind trolley. Do they come with one? I don't think I've noticed that before.

Seems I remember that you have a Campdraft, RBH. Care to post some pics of yours here, please?

This is a Stetson Open Road I got some time ago. It was made in OZ by Akubra and is a bit different than a domestic OR, e.g. - slightly wider brim & taller crown. A very nice hat, someday I have to get a Campdraft to compare.

KB great looking hat!

what size compensation did you use for your long oval shape? i'm a measured 61.5 long oval, and am thinking that either 62 or 63 would be the way to go with a campdraft.

Bob, it is a silverbelly which I've never understood why hats are called that beacuse there is nothing silver about them. They are sand in color but never the less nice hats. And yes Campdrafts come with wind trolley's

I'm between sizes so a 59 (7/38) is what I got. A bit big on me except at the front and back, but with some wear it seems to be fitting better. I'm not an expert on this so some others might want to answer this but I think a 63 would be to big all way around. We need to start a another club, "The curse of the LO"

Thanks, Ken. That's a fine looking hat you have there. I hope to be joining that club soon.
