My new hat (and first custom)

I recently purchased a new hat from Jimmy at Pierce's Designs.

These pics are poor at best (camera phone) but my digital is out of the country with my wife.

It was a pleasure working with Jimmy on this hat. He is a gentleman to work with and knowing how impatient I can be, I have to say he always took the time to return my continual phone calls and answer all my questions.

Anyway, the hat is sand colored with a chocolate ribbon. What I REALLY love about the hat is the very narrow ribbon binding around the edge! I can't imaging trying to sew something that narrow around the edge.

The inside lining is a beautiful emerald green with his logo on the inside crown. He used a wonderfully soft leather sweat band...which is a great treat since my current stash of used hats can use some work in that area and my Akubra Riverina band isn't nearly as comfortable sitting on my head.

The fit is perfect. Now that I've had my first custom made hat, I'm already saving for another. Jimmy is a great guy to work with and I'll certainly be ringing him again for my next hat!

(better pictures coming upon the cameras return this weekend)

Absolutely beautiful! Jimmy is a great guy, a joy to converse with and a dedicated craftsman. I recommend him for consideration, by everyone who wants a custom hat at a most reasonable price. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Very nice, RJ. I hope we can see some better pictures when your camera returns.

I have looked at Jimmy Pierce's website a number of times and am intrigued by the green open road clone he has pictured there.

Right now it is about 8 weeks to get a hat. The reason for the long wait is actually because of not getting enough order. I keep having to take other jobs to help pay the bills, and this delays the orders. I have also started a bit of wholesale, and three stores have ordered between 1 and 2 dozen hats each since the 1st of may. But wholesale doesn't pay enough. I basically decided wholesale to some high end stores may be better than spending money on advertising.

If I got about two to three times the retail orders I do right now I could probable keep the wait time down to about 4 weeks. As it is I anly get to work in the shop maybe four hours a day if I am lucky.
