BBC (America) World News; NPR News; Deutche Welle. I like the foreign agencies because they don't just give the Corporate American version. Also, they don't put the same emphasis on the same stories that the domestic networks do. Often you learn something you would never have even heard of on American TV.

I watch C-span when possible, some Fox News, a little CNN. The trouble is, I can see so much bias, left and right on most news programs. It makes me sick. Why do they have to put the slant on news? Why not just, the news? I hate it when we get someone's commentary in place of the real news. Just like after the President speaks. It is always followed by some jerk telling me what he said. I don't need that. As I get older, it just seems I am listening to someone's agenda, and polictical views. Not that I don't agree with much that some of the talking heads spout, but it is just a pet peeve of mine. I don't see an end to it. I liked it much better back in my childhood when you felt you were really listening to what was going on with less of the commentary. Fedora

I'm all over the map for news but I have my staple resources.

FNC is my primary television news source. I do check out CNN Headline News and MSNBC though.

On the radio I enjoy Limbaugh, Medved, Wilbur (local), Carlson (local), Rusty, Savage, Paul Harvey and occasionally Hannity but I tire of him quickly. I also enjoy listening to world wide news reports from different countries on my short wave radio.*

Too many places to mention on the internet but I do visit the Drudge Report often.

I skim through the papers on occasion but their blatantly biased agendas are more see through than the major television news networks. It grows tiring.

*If you don't have a short wave radio in your emergency bug out bag...get one. They've got a nice one with a hand crank at Radio Shack for a good price. Information during a SHTF disaster is priceless.

I gather my information from all of these sources and try to filter out the rhetoric. Then I watch "The Daily Show" on Comedy Central and it puts it all in prospective. LOL

Oh, yeah. I forgot "The Daily Show" with Jon Stewart. That show does a lot to puncture the windbag politicians and talking heads, releasing a lot of the hot air they contain.

I go to CNN to find out that something happened. Then I go to BBC.com to find out exactly WHAT happened. As far as I can tell, BBC just seems to be central on most things, reporting a lot of things equally.

I'm not trying to single you out, Matt. I've just been thinking about your statement a lot since it is one that I hear leveled at FNC quite a bit. While I tend to agree with the assertion that FNC leans more to the right of the spectrum I don't agree with the allegations that FNC is unfair and unbalanced.

I was watching Brit Humme yesterday, my favorite FNC anchor, and I think you would be hard pressed to find a news story reported on his show that didn't give fairly equal time to both sides of an issue. This is in direct contrast to the network evening news, local news and CNN that tends to report their stories with a 80/20% slant in favor of the liberal point of view. I think FNC's is more like 40/60% with a conservative approach.

I think a lot of the distortion that FNC is unfair and unbalanced comes from their line up of news commentators which includes a lot right leaning hosts including Cavuto, Kasich, Gibson, Hannity and to some extent O'Reilly. This is also the reason that CNN is declared a leftist channel because their line up of comentators tends to be rather leftist in their views.

However, if you focus your attention on just the news reporting I think that you will see a distinct difference in how CNN and FNC balance their reporting and tone.

I'm not going to pretend that FNC isn't driven with a more conservative agenda but I do believe they honestly try to be as fair and as balanced as possible. Especially in contrast to the big three and CNN.

I work in the media. News is my business and I am bombarded with it at work all day. Our producers and editors use all the above sources and more plus the news wires and the internet. I don't want to hear, read or see the news on my own personal time. When I leave, I want no part of it, radio, print, tv or otherwise. I'm sick of news. It's depressing.

I rely most on Minnesota Public Radio And NPR. MPR does a good job of picking an issue, finding people from opposite sides (usually experts in their field of study) and then presenting both sides to the listener. It's the most fair I've heard anyway. BBC and CNN are also pretty good but they still don't devote an hour on any subject like MPR does. Maybe BBC does but I haven't heard that yet from them.

Well, it seems I'm going to have to re-think my endorsement of "The Daily Show." I watched it the other night when Michael Moore was on. Gone were any jabs at the Left. It was all Bush-bashing and laughs at the expense of the Right. They'd better start going after the liberals again, or I'm going to have to cross them off my list.
