It's only recently that I've decided to try a pomade. My issue has been that with my thick, thick hair, I need something to hold my hair so my hats don't muss it up! I can't cut it short, because with the heat we have down here, I end up looking like a frizzy Chia pet. lol
I found a jar of...
Hi folks,
I'm thinking of trying the bow tie out, and was wondering about the different shapes/sizes. I know that hats look best when proportioned to your face and body structure, and through some reading I've been doing on the bow tie I've gleaned an idea that there is a similar consideration...
Though I've usually bought the tagless Hanes at Target (the ones that come 4/bag for something like $15), I've been picking up these at 1 or 2 a month. Might not work for you due to your cotton criterion, however they are brilliantly comfortable; I doubt I'll go back to cotton.
So, how'd it go??
Like so many products, what works best for others might not work for you and vice-versa. I had always heard that a badger brush was the way to have a proper shave, but in practice, the thickness of my stubble requires the stiffness of the boar brush, so I invested in a...
Chief the Special looks great on you, and I can tell that it is breaking in very nicely, which to me says that it is getting a lot of very deserved wear! I hope all is going well.

Perhaps there are two kinds of leather strap? I can't see how a wider one would fit on the Hamilton, since it doesn't have a nice wide bow like the Swiss. Thanks for the education! I appreciate your patience answering all my queries
I was referring to things like these, specifically. I can see how a knife, pen, stamp, or other chain-type fob would be a bit out of place on the strap.
Thank you, Shangas! That's a big help. Looks like the serial number is 1110831 to me; does this mean 1912? Since the movement only says "5 positions," I guess I can assume that there is one position in which its timekeeping will suffer. Thanks also for the reassurance about its durability...
Thanks guys, that helps a lot. I saw somewhere earlier in this thread mention of using the breast pocket of a shirt as a storage place, and I was a bit confused by that. Using a leather fob strap makes sense for the lapel hole, I assume that for this purpose one does not attach a fob? Where is...
Welcome to the Lounge! You will surely find this place to be an excellent hangout, full of very knowledgeable folks.
I'm no expert on these matters, but my $0.02 is this (it's how I started getting into "real" hats):
1) Check out this link. Seems like you would be about a size 7 or 56 (US v...
I'll show mine, and ask questions too!
Hello all,
Here are the two pocketwatches I own (click for bigger).
First up, a Hamilton I found at an antique dealer who was liquidating his stock as he was getting set to retire. From what I can tell, it's 17 jewel, but don't know much else, since...
Can someone please post a picture of wearing a pocket watch in a dress shirt and with a blazer (no waistcoat) for me? My watch chain recently failed, and I need to find a new one.
Also, I used to have a spring-ring chain large enough to clip to a belt loop. My grandfather has a gold chain...
You'll never go back! There is a TON of internet that talks about how to clean, polish, and disinfect old safety razors. I know this is :offtopic: but will you be using a soap or a cream?
