Amen! My bikes dyno out at 185 and 193 HP at the rear wheel, a 2009 Suzuki GSX-R 1000 and 2010 BMW S1000RR respectively. In the winter, my riding jacket of choice is an Aero 1930s Slimfit Halfbelt. Never had the collar so much as even flap up a tiny bit, even on spirited rides, getting well...
First, it depends on the brand. After that, it depends on the production date of the jacket. However, I can assure you that many original early halfbelts / sportswear jackets were made with 3 to 3.5 oz. leather, and they are truly something to behold!

Bike enthusiasts and leather jacket junkies descended upon Seattle again tonight to take part in Backfire Moto! Hundreds of bikes and lots of good lookin' folks wearing Insurrection gear again!!!
Here's a great photo of a customer who bought this British Cycle Leathers jacket from Insurrection...
None of the Brimaco / British Cycle Leathers cafe' racers were ever made from horsehide, at least none that I've ever seen. However, they do definitely vary in thickness. Take a look at the front jacket on this rack in our shop. A 3.0 - 3.5 oz. (1.5 - 1.75mm) British Cycle Leathers jacket...
Borisna,
We only like to give specification advice after talking in depth with our customers and getting an understanding of their style, how they'll be using the jacket, if they want the jacket to be historically correct, etc. We get pretty in depth and don't take fit lightly. For example...
For a tall guy, you're getting a very, very short back length...we never order something this short unless the customer wants something well above the belt line... Also, for a 38 slimfit, I hope you're less than 165 lbs.
It's funny which jackets show patina and which jackets, well, just simply don't...
When Rin Tanaka's book "My Freedam! 3" came out, a number of jackets that we had sold to collectors were in it, jackets that I had sold to these collectors for $$$$$ for performance parts on my race bikes and for...
We do have the equivalent to a size 38 Aero Highwayman currently in our shop--The Vanson Enfield 40 in competition weight cowhide (if you're a 38 in a Highwayman, the 38 Enfield will be WAY too small on you!).
Regarding Aero, we do a lot of full-custom Aero jackets for folks in the United...
Great jacket HD! I think we have some of the last Vanson Enfields (we're constantly getting stock that we don't even have time to put on our website!) left in the country on our racks. Vanson's are so sought after, despite the poor economy.
The OP wanted an Aero without the risk and wait...
Okay...this is what is looks like--
Black and white label Vansons (1975 to 1979) have no serial #s whatsoever. From 1980 on, serial #s look to be ordered on a consecutive basis. For example, a four number prefix Vanson is much older that a five number prefix Vanson. I believe that your...
...LOL...
Vanson serial #s are consecutively assigned and have absolutely no reference to the year that the jacket was produced.
The seemingly bizarre nature of the serial numbers would have it seem that the serial #s are, in fact, random, but, again, they're consecutively assigned.
Hope...
Regarding the thickness, they were all quite thin. However, I've handled probably almost 1000 in the past 15 years and you occasionally come across a 3.0 oz cowhide one and it's hella nice!!! With that said, it's a tougher sale, as that thickness of leather isn't what people who want Brimaco /...
Amen to getting great fits!!! A lot of folks are taking advantage of this type of Aero fit process and we couldn't be more happy!!!
On a tad different note, Carrie was at Backfire Moto, Seattle's premier monthly moto get-together, tonight and found some great people in Insurrection gear.
This...
We're going to try to make it... my friend Nels is doing the dyno-tuning on Jake Holden's bike, so we're pretty excited to see the races! I'll keep you posted...
Insurrection is currently instituting a new way to get the best Aero jacket fit possible!
This "new way" actually comes from our years of experience getting perfect custom fits on our leather motorcycle one-piece race suits, whether that be Pilot USA, Vanson, RS Taichi, or Ballistik. For our...
Exactly!
A customer of ours took this today with his camera phone and emailed it to us...
Just one "T" rack, and over $10,000 USD in beautiful Horween horsehide!!!
More Aero FQHH jackets arrive on Monday!!!
