Thanks, gentlemen, for the comments on the Keynote. As to wait time, it has been way longer for me than 5 weeks (try making that months) but it's worth the wait. I think Bob's been slammed lately with orders but he always communicates promptly.
After spending three days strolling around downtown Chicago, I was disappointed at a relatively few fedoras, mostly of the inexpensive wool
variety. However, I crossed paths with one impeccably dressed gentleman with what had to be a beautiful custom bowler. He spied my Black Sheep and we...
While in Chicago this week I stopped in the Loop location. As has probably already been expressed, it's not really a retail outlet in the sense that you would leave with a hat. The hats on display are really to show options to be ordered--the sole saleperson is there is take measurements and...
A variation on the Keynote arrived. Rather than a raw brim, I had Bob do an underwelt. Usual great Black Sheep quality and the shade of gray will be very versatile.
The sweatband seemed even nicer than my others:
And a headshot--gotta learn to smile.
Received delivery of a Keynote this week. I'm on the road so no pics yet but Bob has photo of it up on his Facebook page. I went with an underwelt rather than raw brim. Usual excellent Black Sheep product.
Wore the Savannah all week in Philadelphia while at a conference. The gray band and binding allows the hat to be worn with a range of suits. It's much softer than the Gold Finch and extremely comfortable. Got several nice comments from passersby.
Love Bob's work. I have 3 more...
Received a Savannah from Bob Tuesday, just in time to take it with me to Philly for a business trip. Will post pics when I return. Usual Black Sheep high quality. Very comfortable and soft.
Thanks for the comments, gentlemen The color is pecan; it looks lighter in my cell phone photo than it is in person. The brim is 2.5", the ribbon triple pressed 2", the crown is 4.5" in front. It's not open crown.
My Goldfinch arrived today and I'm very impressed. Mind you, my experience with hats is recent (starting last December) and my point of comparison has been new production Stetsons (Sutley, Temple & Stratoliner) and Borsalino (two soft light weight open crowns and a stiffer, thicker one--none has...
David, to follow up on my one word praise of the eggplant, the detail on that hat is fantastic. I'll be curious to see some noggin shots once the weather cooperates with wearing felt. I also really like the color--it seems pretty versatile in that it kind of changes shade depending upon the...
I also agree with mikespens about the ribbon on the modern version but I have one in Silverbelly and enjoy wearing it. It's comfortable and pretty soft and I doubt that anyone notices the ribbon but me.
David: enjoyed the video. Like the Stratoliner in the video, too.
Talked to Bob today and my Goldfinch is on the block with shipping perhaps next week. I've hammered the poor guy with 7 orders since March so I'm excited to receive the first one.
