Heya -
Thanks!
I asked the bartender to move the thread right after I posted it. I didn't want to water down all the mysteries by searching too hard ;) . Yes, I did see some of the hairstyle threads there, and there was that particular link to the styles by era ( posted by Eloise? sorry if...
I cruised the "Powder Room" for as long as I could before I started to feel a little bit...like an intruder:o .
I'm looking for a link or maybe some pics of a hairstyle from the late '30s to mid '40s for short hair. Short* hair - for a female, lest there be some confusion.
I've no...
I'm looking for a reasonably accurate A-2 reproduction at a "reasonable" price.
By reasonably accurate, I mean I'm looking for no side entry pockets, fairly accurate liner color, etc... Sewn through hanger would be bonus.
The US Authentic brand jacket or something like it would be about what...
No I do not.
Brother, it was a quote I cribbed offa the internet that I though was applicable and even a bit amusing, considering. Nothing more.
Your response ( and many of those posted ) seems to border on apologetic. Like the Patton quote, I say "seems to" because I don't want to speculate...
Duty is the essence of manhood.
-George S. Patton
Also, with regards to what I posted two entries up:
The time to take counsel of your fears is before you make an important battle decision. That's the time to listen to every fear you can...
This sort of thing slays me. As to "openmindedness", when is a person, in your estimation, permitted to make a decision about their life and how they're going to live it? I'm open minded. I'm open minded until I gather the facts and opinions, the pros and cons. Then I make a decision for ME. I...
Why in the world would you want to sustain a conversation with ANY person like that?
My mom can "tear me a new one".
My dad can "tear me a new one".
Officers (with more time on than me) can "tear me a new one".
That about covers it. Kowtow-ing to a female doesn't change the fact that...
LEFTY -
That straw looks really good on you.
With the moustache, etc... you could really rock the old Leon Redbone look with some sunglasses...
...or perhaps a monocle:
Just a thought.
I saw a couple of posts referring to it. Miss (first name) still gets used in the South a good deal, at least in the limited circles I grew up around and have associated with.
Buuuut.... Does anyone remember the TV show SLEDGEHAMMER? With the policeman who talked to his gun? There was a line...
Two Things...
It's hard for a man to stand by and watch other men work...
A man, when describing what he believes to be "manly qualities", shouldn't spend the rest of the thread, conversation, day, etc... trying to justify his position. That is weak and borderline crawfishing. If you...
If I may be so bold, Mario wears his hats, and not the other way around. I think that's 90% of what you're seeing. Whatever advice or other information he may impart, it's hard to pull that off without simply wearing the hat.
And the hats do look sharp, Mario. :eusa_clap
Saw the second episode last night. Because of the tighter timeframe ( 50 minutes as opposed to about 90 ), I think it was better. I don't have much experience with what you'd call Adventure Serials, but have seen a lot of the old Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers scifi stuff from the way back: that's...
Bought this today...
Boy, it's been a while. I watched the pilot and enjoyed it. Modern cheese that really brings to mind the classic cheese. I'd just as soon not hear any junk about..."Well, you know, this isn't historically accurate...the Flying Tigers blah blah blah..." It's good, solid...
CHAMP
Anyone just watch that crazy bidding war on the 7 1/4 Champ a minute ago?!? HOLY MOLY!!! Finally went 100 bones shipped, up from about 30 in 3 minutes....
I have no bones with "modern" Stetsons. I have one felt I'm very fond of ( a Firenze in sort of a green color... ) that's held up well with regular wear over the last few years. That one is a "Soveriegn". I had a "Royal" ( forget the model ) that was...okay. But those are the last two modern (...
...and Pacific Combat Zone. These are both within walking distance of the Nimitz Museum in Fredericksburg,Tx ( about an hour's drive out of San Antonio ).
Saturday was my third visit to the museum, but my first visit to the Pacific Combat Zone. A few times a year, they do a demo and...
Panama
Here's the hat from Panama Bob referred to in the "Panama Hat Help, Please" thread started by me. Excellent hat! Thanks, Robert.

GOT THE HAT -
I got the hat today and...WOW! First off, I wasn't expecting it so quickly, and secondly: GREAT HAT! Thanks, Robert. I really appreciate all the help from you and thanks for being so accomodating. I'll be back - definately.
I'll put some pics up in today's "new hats" thread...
I think "large" tends generally to fall into the 7 1/4 - 7 3/8 hat size. It'd be my guess that they sell out in that size relatively quickly. Factor in the popularity of the "stingy" paper hats that are still hot right now ( God help is all...) and I'd bet there's not an especially deep stock in...
