Gordon's is a lovely place - it is especially atmospheric to sit in the cellar vault with the candles guttering in time to the tube trains rattling past under Charing Cross. The beakers of port and sherry from the cask are also very good value.
As to pubs, the Bree Louise (near to Euston...
Compared to most of the riding macs which appear on ebay - and I've been unsuccessfully looking for one like this for quite a while - it seems to be in excellent condition.
Also, I suppose to some people the cc41 tag has a valuable cachet: even if it doesn't guarantee the mac was made in...
Indeed. Grossly inflated figures based on forgeries have been used for many years by holocaust-deniers to imply some equivalence between the Dresden bombing and the Holocaust, as has the allegation that Dresden was in no sense a military target - which though great destruction was wrought on...
Hestra (http://www.hestragloves.com/#/en/start/) produce some well-respected, nice looking warm gloves. They have some models which are smarter than others - the Lars Falt model is supposed to be very good for cold dry conditions which require some deterity.
If you don't need something which...
If you're looking for a pair of yellow chamois gloves, which one gent in those pictures is almost certainly wearing, then you could try http://www.chesterjefferies.co.uk/scripts/default.asp who made me some for about £50. They don't appear to have them on their website at the moment, but will...
No, at the other university we sit exams without gowns or sub fusc. A good thing too, since my finals were held in an airless concert hall when the temperature outside was in the high 20s.
Roorkhee chairs
The design I really like is the roorkhee chair:
These are available from a couple of sources, but again at ridiculous prices for a few sticks, a couple of belts and a piece of canvas...
I thought that perhaps you gents might like to know that a pair of (non-vintage)...
I don't know what size you take, but there is a Pakeman's waistcoat (size 44 chest) on UK ebay at the moment.
I would have thought a dark red would work quite well with the buff waistcoat and morning coat; green might seem a bit 1) over co-ordinated with the backing and 2) clashing with the...
I second the recommendation for Pakeman's offering; the waistcoat is a bit expensive, but it was the most reasonably priced buff linen affair I came across when buying morning dress for my wedding.
Its green back doesn't seem to make wearing morning dress noticeably warmer than it would be...
I take a 40L chest in jackets.
The difficulty with charity shops is the amount of rubbish one has to climb through to find something worth having - unless it's a charity shop somewhere like Kensington, where bespoke suits are generally hanging next to the front door.
Does anyone know where I might be able to acquire an old rubberised mackintosh at a reasonable price? Nightandthecity posted some photos of his one here:

There is one listed on UK ebay at the moment, but it...
I've found some bits and pieces, but Britain is simply not as big as America, so there is bound to be less choice than on ebay.com.
Royal Mail shipping charges tend to be quite high (especially given the level of service delivered), especially overseas, and probably seem especially high...
Perhaps these people http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Kentbrushes would be willing to ship abroad?
Kent have an excellent reputation and these seconds are substantially cheaper than buying from a normal stockist.
