Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest
That's krajee dawg! Without the steampun-k keyword being added to the description, I doubt it would have gone anywhere near that price.

Edited because their software doesn't like the work pun-k
One of my workmates made a whip cracking sound when they saw me in my Campdraft last week. I laughed and said the hat was an Open Road style because of the way I creased it and not the Indiana Jones hat.

Happy anniversary Greg! How many years? Oh, I got carried away... Nice get-up. You both look fabulous though, admittedly, I think she has an edge on you. :)

No pic, but I'm wearing my Dobbs Rainbow today. It's one sweet hat. Love the lightweight felt from which it's made. The Cav edge is only a bonus. :)

This arrived today, so here's my contribution to the thread. It's a Dorville Twenty from Dayton's Men's Store. Sorry for the horrible mugshots.

Very much like this, except a different colour and nowhere near as nice condition. Still seems like a pretty nice hat. Is this likely a 1960's hat?
Also, it has some sort of corrugated type thingy in the front of the sweatband. Seems I've seen something about that "feature" on some hats...
Strange Borsalino
I recently acquired a Borsalino from eBay. There is a liner with a leather sweat band and a small tag with gold thread and a hand-shaped sorta thing that says "EULAN BAYER" and the sweatband says "Diamante" Twenty Five. It's grey felt. I'm not coming up with much on this.
Alternately, if you're not follicly challenged you could just grow more hair. I have there are many here that fall into that category so that may not be an option.
My Campdraft Deluxe showed up yesterday, so I ended up putting a dry cattleman crease in it so I could wear it today. I've not had an opportunity to compare it side by side with the Bluegrass Green one that arrived last week, but it does seem to have nicer felt.

Most people don't usually say anything unless I'm wearing a cowboy/western hat. That said, when I was at a party about 2-3 weeks back I met a hat aficionado who nearly flipped when he saw my Resistol Flatop. We ended up discussing hats for at least 1/2 hour. He's now looking for a Flatop of his own.
I joined the forum on June 4, 2015 and had only one hat at the time. As of today, I counted 28 around the house (I may have missed some) and have another 6 on the way. :eusa_doh:
So as to stay on topic. One of the hats that is on the way is a Borsalino, purportedly from the 50's.
DonJuan, it's all good. I think that your earnestness overwhelmed you. :) There is a lot of wisdom to be found on this forum, so hang around a bit and enjoy the company.
