Lady Day, you are as pretty as a picture. Love the gardenias! Lauren, cute swimsuit! I have that same pattern. Did you use lycra material or cotton? I've been undecided about which one to use.

    Vintage Pattern WANTED list

Hi Crwritt, I do have this pattern (and the original) in my stash and I am using the largest size. Perhaps I will try and get off my lazy butt and make this this summer. I will report back.

    Sewing Lessons & FAQ

I've just finished my fourth swimsuit. I second what Kamikat said and wanted to mention that you should use polyester thread and swimsuit elastic as they will last longer.

    Remix Shoes!!

I wish it was just a matter of needing more holes. The straps were so short that if I had put another hole in the strap, the end would not buckle completely. I never thought my ankles were plus sized but if the shoe fits (or rather, doesn't).

    Remix Shoes!!

I like the pair I have but I did notice based on other pairs I've tried, that the strap seems to be kind of short on some of the styles.

Don't worry, it would be far less va-voomy on me. Far far far less... Besides, I'd be wearing some sort of bolero or little jacket to cover up my tattoos.

    Hawaiian Wedding

Thanks for the help :) I'd love a WT but unfortunately there isn't enough time to have one made. This trip came up very suddenly and I have less than a month to go. Chasseur, I will certainly be in touch when I get home from work. I'd love to know what I should prioritize. 5 days just...

    Hawaiian Wedding

Hi Ladies, I was hoping that you could give some advice. I'm going to Hawaii for the first time for a wedding. Dress code is "aloha casual". I'm thinking about using one of my vintage sarong patterns but I'm worried that it will look too costumey. I was also wondering if anyone knows of...

    Sewing Lessons & FAQ

Those are lovely patterns. It depends on how badly you want to make them. I've successfully resized from a 32 inch to 46 inch. It's definitely a challenge. Somehow I always feel a bigger sense of accomplishment than when I use a modern pattern that's close to my size. It is definitely do-able...

LD, I love those dresses! In fact I loved them so much I promptly went to your Etsy and purchased the pattern. I love esp. what you did with the plaid. Too cute!

Incomplete patterns Hi Joie, Whenver I buy patterns at vintage fairs I know there's a possibility that the pattern won't be complete. When I pay $15-30 for a pattern I go to a specific seller and I know they are complete. However when I go to another seller I know there's a risk they won't...

What a beautiful pattern Deadpan Diva. If you can't draft the sleeves, I think Simplicity has a modern pattern with similar sleeves. http://www.simplicity.com/p-3059-misses-tops.aspx

Depending on how detailed it is, you may not have to take it apart. I've made a halter top from a RTW top and it came out fine. I have a couple books on copying an existing garment. Unfortunately i'm at work and can't access them right now.

That's a lovely blouse Lauren. You did a great job matching the plaid print. I love blouses with the single button. Are there hidden snaps?

I've never tried it but would twill tape help stablilize the seams?

I second that Lady Day. I"d buy that pattern from you even if the instructions weren't authentically vintage.

Shaheen 50s patterns? I love the 50s era Shaheen dresses but haven't been lucky enough to find any in my size. Does anyone know if he sold patterns for this era? Ive seen 1960s/70s patterns but I don't know if any others exist. I'm not sure if I should give up the search due to the fact it...

Grading up Palespider, I will echo what others have said and say that you don't want to start off doing a large grade. However, I have had good luck grading up 10 inches or more. Granted not every pattern will be as successful but I have pretty much the same measurements as you and have used...

    Sewing Lessons & FAQ

Goldwyn Girl, I have made both the skirt and the jacket. Other than paying attention to the amount of ease, I found the pattern went together easily.
