I purchased this Eastman B-3 in Seal from John Chapman about two years ago. I think John used it as a pattern for his own B-3 models. I have worn it literally twice outside since I got it. It is virtually brand new without tags. These jackets are now over $ 1,200 new from Eastman. The fleece is...
Of the patterns you have highlighted, I have three of the patterns which John has made.
Cable Raincoat 42-10008-P in goat
Dubow 1755 in Seal HH
and I also own John's prototype D-1 Knopf jacket.
I was wearing the 1755 today.
They are all great jackets. You can't go wrong!
The 27" is from the base of the collar to the bottom of the jacket. The jacket sits on me approx. 1/2" to 1" below my belt buckle in front and 1 1/2" to 2" below my belt in the back. I have a longer torso, with shorter legs, my inseam being 29" - 30". Hope this helps!
HH is used for the thin trim pieces binding the seams and on the collar trim on the back of the jacket, the rest is the shearling. Hope that helps.
The other three jackets are JC's test D-1, the ELC B-3 I bought from John and an RMNZ D-1 with the most amazing shearling I've ever seen. The...
Up for sale is my Aero B-6 Seal/Seal jacket in a size 46. It is in like new condition, no flaws, rips, tears, off smells, etc. This jacket features the nicely contrasting OD thread. All zips function perfectly. I purchased it last year from the original owner. It was originally purchased through...
Scott, I'd say that looks perfect on you, but you are the one who'll be wearing it, so you have to love it. The length looks good - 1.5" extra might be a bit much. The arm holes being too high is probably the deal breaker. Good to see you posting!
Eighteen pages of discussion, amazing! What's even more amazing is the lack of much discussion on this topic over on VLJ. The US is still a free country, and John is free to charge what the market will bear. Classic free market principles at work.
I'm sure you'll be very happy with your GW jacket. Yes, the best way to communicate with John or his assistant is via email, especially as you are in the UK. Not sure about current wait time, but John can appraise you on this. He sometimes has test jackets for sale in his size 46. If you are...
I have two goat Good Wear jackets; the Cable in the new Indian goatskin and a Dubow in the old French goat. I also had a Bronco in the old goat. The new goat is nicer than the old, although the older French goatskin was wonderfully supple and very consistent in grain. The pebbling is a bit...
Hey Joel,
I purchased Cable Raincoat No.1 in goat from John a while back. It is the 42-10008P contract and you can see pictures of it on John's site. Compared to the Dubow 1755 I bought from you last year, it is a bit slimmer, which should make you happy. The Dubow is a 48 and the Cable is a 46...
