Myself, being a 40 + male with a handlebar moustache, I'm optimistic that the fall of the beard will be the rise of the 'stache. Judging by the way the moustache became popular in the 19th century, I'm hopeful that this is how it will become part of a man's style once again. Post Civil War, the...
I am a history fanatic,so the relatively small detail of when the C or Teardrop crown crease appeared is as interesting as anything that occurred in the past,to me.Just as a Muy Mucho Max thread or any person's remembrances of the past through their eyes would be very interesting.
Here's my newest homemade jack. It is far from a fine tool, but it does the job as well as a big dollar jack(at least for what I'm doing). I would love to have one of humanshoes' works of art. However, my homemades suit the purpose for now. I make the bodies in differing sizes and switch the...
Does anyone have a suggestion of how I could create a Homburg/Lord's Hat type curl without having a flange made for that style? (Unless someone here has a Homburg flange and will flange it for me). ;)
There is a couple of us guys on the Conversion Corral thread that have designed and made our own jacks, mainly do to restrictive availability and pricing. If you check that thread you'll see a couple of different styles pictured and you may even find someone to make you one. They may not all be...
Being more of a fan of the pre-war style of hats, I've always been inclined to the center crease bash on a crown. However, I have seen pre 1940's hat's with different crown styles like the tear drop or c style bash and I do like the look of it. I was curious as to when the C style started...
Well, I finally finished my latest semi-conversion of my dark brown Stagecoach. Some days I'm happy with the hat but sometimes I want to do something else. The future will tell what I decide. I am happy with my work and how it turned out but I am sometimes ambivilent about what I want to own.
This hat started out as a 3x Resistol 70's-80's made. My intent for it was to make a SpanAm War style campaign hat hence the snowflake vents and 3" brim. To this day I still have not been able to find a tan hat in my size to try at another campaign hat. Since it was my first conversion it didn't...
I've always been a big fan of the late 19th and early 20th century style hats, like the ones in early cowboy filims.
A few of those guys were real cowboys and lawmen.
Look what I just won on the 'bay Joao.
I don't mean to poke the bear but I may end up cutting and converting it. However, I may leave the brim alone and just change the bash and ribbon. I'm not sure since I finally found a brown 'Coach in my size and converted it. Suggestions are welcome.
Well, here it is. The bow didn't turn out as well as I hoped but it has always been my weak point.
The sides are straighter than they look in the picture. I went with 2" ribbon because I still had some vintage rayon/cotton Petersham left.
