The TAD Gear jackets were made in a very limited run for the Usual Suspects gathering in Las Vegas in 2009.
If you contact Johnson Leathers (they actually made the jackets for TAD Gear) you might be able to have something similar made.
On another forum there was quite a bit of conversation about them awhile back.
The general feeling is that their jackets aren't as nice as you're led to believe on the site. They were also caught using pictures from other makers sites on their own if I'm not mistaken.
I'd look elsewhere....
I think I've decided on the perfect way to describe this piece....
It's a cashmere raincoat.......it looks stunning but is totally useless for it's intended purpose.
Here is what my Forty-Eight looks like now....
I had a gas cap custom made out of brass. I also installed a Dakota Digital multi function gauge in place of the stock speedometer. The mufflers are now LOUD Vance & Hines Straightshots. To keep the wind from hitting me in the chest...
Specifically the 641 in cowhide...I can't do horse...it's a personal thing.
I'm thinking of ordering one to wear on my bike. I don't know of any shops in my area that stock them so I was hoping to get a first hand report by someone here.
My questions specifically are....

I'd cut a hole in the bottom of a large trash bag and drape it over the coat, on the hanger, like a garment bag. That way you don't have to worry about your oil cloth staining anything it's up against in the closet and you won't ruin a garment bag.
The Sportsters fit me best of all the Harleys. I've ridden a couple of big twins but I just didn't feel comfortable on them....
I'm 5'7" and a very athletic 185lbs.
TAD Gear special.
These were made up for a very limited run last year by Johnson Leathers for TAD. I picked it up at the first annual Usual Suspects gathering in Las Vegas.
It's very heavy cowhide with incredible grain and texture.
It's also got a rather unique feature...
I had the stock 2.1 peanut tank swapped out for the larger 3.3 gallon version. Not only is my range increased but I think it's got a slightly different attitude now as well...
I remembering hearing awhile back that Vanson moved some of their production to Mexico. That might explain why the factory appears to have scaled back some.
Check out Gibson & Barnes (www.flightsuits.com)
Their jackets are of excellent quality, made in the U.S. and reasonably priced.
I currently have several of their jackets and I'm very happy with them all.
