I have thought about the ribbon swap myself as I want a grey dress hat to wear with a suit but like the wider ribbons for dress wear. I may have to pull the trigger and find out. Oooohh, this forum could be dangerous;)
Come on, somebody has got to have some info on tweaking the crown of the Stylemaster! Is is really stiff like a modern Open Road and will need wet or thoroughly steamed or is it impossible? A little help appreciated.
Thanks,
Jed
I am contemplating a Stylemaster as my second fedora and just wondering if you can re-bash it, maybe to a center dent to increase the height of the crown a bit? I have a full, rounder head shape and typically prefer a slightly taller crown but like a wider ribbon for dress hats. I am not afraid...
My new Camp Draft's ribbon ends are curling and I want to fix it. They were curled out of the box and I dampened them and lightly ironed them flat but whenever is gets wet or stored upside down the ribbons dangle freely and eventually curl. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jed
I appreciate all the input. This is my first fedora but I have a custom Western that I rebashed a couple times so I did have a little hat practice.
GTD: Have your Camp Drafts come in yet? I definitely agree that we need a Cherokee Co. Crease Police raid soon. Y'all shoot me a PM and we'll do it!
Thanks for the feedback. GTD, did your campdrafts ever come in? Maybe we could get together and compare notes when they do. Thanks for all the help. This is really a great forum.

Thanks for the compliments. Is there anywhere that shows comparison pics of the different bashes so I can educate myself quickly? BTW, I am already contemplating a grey hat to wear with blue and grey suits. That glen grey Campdraft looks tempting. For folks looking for alternative sources of...
My tawny fawn Campdraft finally arrived! This is my first fedora and just wondering what you all think? The bash was my first attempt on a non-Western hat. Is this a C-crown or a teardrop? Sorry, still learning my "creast police" handbook. [/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG]
I have the hat bug bad it would appear. As I anxiously await the arrival of my fawn Campdraft, I see a need for a proper dress fedora for wear with suits, usually dark grey, navy, or lighter grey. In your esteemed opinion, is the Campdraft more casual and the wider ribbon and overall appearance...
I was blessed to be born, reared, and currently reside in north Georgia, which is way different than south Georgia, but getting too darn close to Atlanta.
Just wondering what you all thought of the Hat Jack stretchers/shape retainers? I bought one from Del Monico for less than $20 and like it so far. It doesn't go very deep into the hat but seems well built otherwise, especially for the price. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jed
What about a sand-colored Campdraft, cut down the brim yourself and have the brim bound and new ribbon done to match? Might be a do-it-yourselfer and save a few bucks? I love the shorter brim as well.
That hat looks awesome KeyGrip. Is that color the Akubra version of silver belly? Where did you order from? I have a tawny fawn on order. Nice hat.
Jed
I totally agree Jabos. I ordered a Campdraft in their silver belly (sand) yesterday as that was the only color a 61cm would be available in for a while. If I like the hat but want another color, then I'll just order another color later:p Thanks to all for the info.
Jed
I tried to PM RBH but his box is full. RBH, what kind of hat is that in your avatar? I'm looking to purchase a Campdraft and it looks similar. Just wondering.
Thanks
Jed
Kinda related to hats, but wondering if anyone knew of any old-fashioned "men's stores" that carry dress/ casual clothes in north GA, east TN, or western NC. I remember having one where I live when I was a kid. Most small southern towns did and it was where all the gents shopped. Usually had...
