Don Draper fedora identified
Hey gents.
I am quite sure that for the majority of the episodes Don is wearing a Dobbs Golden Coach JET 707 Saber fedora with a 1 7/8" brim. He does, however, have two other hats in the series. One is a vintage fedora (pictured in this thread already) and the...
Hey all, It's been a while since I checked this thread so I just got caught up.
Well as of now I'm still waiting for my March 08 order with no update. I've tried calling Steve's number quite a few times and left both voice messages and messages with his mother with all my information. I've...
I found this somewhere on the web as a Goldfinger alternative. It's not exact, but definitely a good looking hat. http://www.cablecarclothiers.com/milan_hat.html
Found a good choice
Hey fellas,
I just found this thread as I was trying to find the same hat (or at least a shape hat) myself for golfing days.
From watching Goldfinger, and as is visable in those photos it looks more to me like he's simply wearing a tear drop (C dent) porkpie with...
I finally got a Club Obi wan membership and PM'd Steve. He was last on yesterday afternoon so HOPEFULLY I will hear something back soon. I saw a post by him a few months ago that said he had recovered most of the missed orders and there weren't a lot.
Is anyone else on here still waiting for a...
Thanks guys. Yes the hat is a 7 1/4 and Im between a 7 1/4 and a 7 3/8". All my other hats are 7 3/8" with a foam strip to tighten it up, so Im really only needing to stretch it a half size.
I'll try the spray bottle Idea. Would filtered Britta water work well? It's truly a great hat and in...
How do I stretch a fedora?
Hey guys,
I was lucky enough to pick up a beautiful Cavanagh Fedora a couple months ago at a local Costume store for $50. WITH original box! And I must say it is my favorite hat in my collection. The only problem is it is ever so slightly too small for my big head...
Thanks so much for pointing me to this thread! I had no idea Steve was so sick but it definitely makes sense. Soo glad to hear he is doing well again (or at least as of his last post). I coincidentally sent him an email doing exactly as he asked, ie. when I ordered my hat, my size, what my order...
Has anyone received any Adventurebilt fedora's lately
Hello fellow fedora enthusiasts,
I do not wish to start any sort of ill tempered thread here, but I am still waiting for my Adventurebilt Fedora to arrive; an order which was placed in March of 2008. Most here know the story behind Steve...
To clarify once again, I did not post on here to bad mouth Steve. And thanks bendingoak for making us aware of the situation more clearly. From all I've read and all my communications with Steve he has been very friendly and it's comforting to hear that people are STILL receiving their hats. The...
Haha ya. Well, I'm not the type of guy to get mad or upset easily. And I know the predicament Steve is in, and its a bad one. I'm also a big Indy fan as most of you guys are too, so with 3 years + invested I just want the product to arrive so I have something to show for my patience. Also...
3 YEARS and counting...
So I've been extremely patient waiting for my adventurebilt fedora to arrive, but its gone past ridiculous in my mind. It's been over three years now! THREE YEARS! I couldn't believe it when I counted the months from my order date back in March 11th of 2008. In my first...
Still waiting for mine to show up. I placed my order on March 11, 2008. I just sent Steve another email. The last I heard I was going to receive mine this summer, but nothing yet. I'm glad I bought the Akubras a while back to tide me over.
Well as you'll see, most of us on this forum who purchased an Adventurebilt did not pay $650. I paid $350, therefore the long wait. You get what you pay for, and quality costs. Just take a look at a belstaff leather jacket or an armani suit. If you've ever seen that kind of quality in person...
Coool! Looks great.
P.S. Today marks the TWO year anniversary of the day I ordered my Adventurebilt Fedora back on March 11, 2008. Hopefully my wait will be over soon!
Thanks for the advice! I've actually watched that video a few times, I'll give the hat some more work when i get home tonight and try the sock bashing too :). I watched a few of your other videos and am actually curious about how you got your leather jacket so nicely distressed! I've done...
Yes it's definitely a nice step up from the standard grey. It looks preeeetty similar, but the feel is totally different. It's a LOT softer, and the leather band inside is soo soft and nice. Feels great to wear and is extremely comfortable. For $150 you can't beat it.
