vintage wine box cabinets
got some old wine boxes that are neat but just sitting around collecting dust??
well, get nifty and make some awesome cabinets!
this here is a kitchen example but you can make cabs for just about anything (or window shutters for that matter!).
1. Take off the...
how does black make one look old??? most of my closet and dressers are filled with black. i dress most often like a beat because it's easy, flattering, stylish and comfy.
i do love me some royal blue though...
hey there, although i love art deco and am a purist in some things, i am also into reconstituting the dead (ie vintage pieces that would have otherwise been tossed in the garbage bin given new life vis-à-vis contemporary innovation).
so, if you have nifty articles, tips, pictures, etc on how to...
salutations
and greetings from sunny california! i've been a side-watcher of this here forum for a long time and decided to join when i realized that i have had far too many old-timey quandaries that went unanswered because lack of folks with the same interests. so here i be.

thanks, ladies! i pieced the outfit together over a year...the dress was a repro by stopstaring! that i thought was just darling for a city hall marriage, the shoes and foundations i had, the hat was an ebay buy but i had to replace the netting (old) so i took it to my girlfriend who is head of...
haha, that was a good bang day (otherwise it's a furled mess) and you can't really see the length in this pic but it's at the ears...not the chin. again, i guess it's just been ingrained in my mind that bobs are STRAIGHT...just google "bob haircut." you'll see.
thanks for the comp by the way.

bobs are not for everyone
with the 20s being the IT thing these days, i have seen far too many people trying to sport the "cool" bob. granted one won't know if a bob will look good on her or not until she tries it but if it doesn't, move on lady, move on...don't hang on to a hairstyle just...
cancer survivor here to say...

IMHO, novelty prints can push one over that fine line of tasteful to comical. BEWARE THE NOVELTY PRINTS...i usually reserve those for home or lite get togethers or bowling. novelty prints especially on "mature" women are ripe for ridicule...
i would assume that almost every major city has a garment district. go there, take your coat, you'll not only find what you're looking for but also a multitude of wonderful fabrics.
mrs. cleaver, you bring up an interesting point--the opposite of frump being a source of semi-ridicule. back in the day (like the 90s for me) everything WAS about looking frumpy, hello, grunge? and so people really dressed DOWN...i think that has had a small change in the 2000's but i've had...
