My fine-point Phileas was a bit scratchy till I doodled a bit (just a bit!) on a fine hone with it. Now it writes as smoothly as the medium nib Phileas I have.
Where are you folks finding extra-fine nibbed Phileaas pens? I was under the impression they only made Fine, Medium, and Bold nibs....
someone has probably already beat me to this, but:
it's called a gig line, pronounced like it looks- hard gs.
Reason being- -if it wasn't right, you'd get a "gig", or demerit, in military inspection. It was and is an inspectable item of your appearance, along with the press and cleanliness...
John-
yes, that's what I was doing before I started using the converters. I think I'll go back to it, actually. The Kultur (think: Phileas Demonstrator) looks more striking with the barrel showing a tube of ink full along it's length instead of only half converter and half mechanism.
Same...
well, ya think?
See-- I just did that-- 2, maybe 3 weeks ago. It came with the pen. It's ALREADY leaking. This does not fill me with a warm fuzzy feeling about my chances with the next Waterman converter.
Love the pens, but the converters, not so much.
Thus my question if there are...
it all came together in one box, brand new from Waterman 2 weeks ago. It's the fountain pen writing kit they sell.
It's leaking out the back of the converter, all else is fine.
well what do you expect where "fashionable" clothes look like the dog slept and messed upon them, shortly after a skidrow bum wore then for 6 months straight after a mechanic rebuilt a transmission in a diesel truck in them?
I'm having a spot of trouble with my Phileas and Kultur-
They work great- GREAT - with the cartridges, filled with Noodler's inks. But the Waterman converters leak to high heaven. I literally just filled it earlier, came back 30 minutes later to find that all of m ink was outside the...
One of those leather affairs? I've been carrying the same thing for near 20 years now. It's just now broken the bottom piece of leather that makes the firm body portion of it, loose. I really must resecure it, as it's taken on a wonderful patina
hahah!! I see I'm not the only one!
Right there with ya, brother. It's great. I carry all the cards I need to {rescue, scuba, military ID, etc} AND 8GB of flash drives, and I still have room left over!
Now if I could just get them to make the Passport versionn with two more pockets, I'd be...
I used to be a leather wallet guy-- at 2.5" thick, I started looking for other solutions-
now a proud carrier of an All-Ett. I now carry MORE than I did back then, and my wallet, full, is thinner than the hides alone that made my old wallet. All up, 5/16" thick. I'm NEVER going back...
:heavy sigh:
well, judging by the individuals and organizations you've mentioned, so much for hat's being classy.
If that's what it's coming to with hats, no thanks.
don't think I haven't thought of this! I will very likely be going back and grabbing another one in the darker color for this sort of treatment.
I just need to learn how to get the thing to take a proper bash, and I'm golden.
well I'll be darn, why didn't I think of this.
What'd it run you?
I lucked out today- I found a Fedora-esque hat [to my eyes, anyway-- and it immediately drew a "oh you bought an Indiana Jones hat" from the wife] for $29 at the local Boot Jack. Surprising, since it's a western shop- I felt...
I'm in Charleston, SC.... don't know if I want to get this deep into pens, as I have something of an obsessive personailty when I find something that suits my fancy, and I go in full-bore till I'm an expert on the subject. I need to be using that focus on my career at present, and am having...
believe me, nothing particularly special:
I bought most of these via Ebay:
-Schaeffer fine-nibber demonstrator (unsure of which version). Apparently the vendor found a scratch on it, so she sent me two for the $9 I paid her for the one.
-Aldo Domani (Yafa) Sorrento in red- TINY little thing...
