I agree mostly. But, I'm new so my opinion may not have as much impact.
I prefer to look for the fur felts... quality is important... but appearance means a lot, too. If I saw a wool hat that I just loved the look of... I would buy it. I have 2 non-fur stetsons (both linen) and one Milani...
Today, I'm wearing a Stetson Havana. It's not actually made by stetson, due to the new contract for Linens... but it's still quite nifty looking and significantly cooler in New Orleans at the moment than the Fur Felt with leather sweatbands...
I have a Stetson Imperial for sale. I'm not sure of the age, but it does have a couple minor imperfections which I've tried to capture with the camera closely for complete disclosure.
I absolutely love this hat. If feels incredibly soft (plush-like) and the color is great, but it's too large...
Well... I recently acquired a Rogers Peet Borsalino that is completely awesome... and a Stetson Imperial that is also quite sweet... those are my two favorite hats... unfortunately, neither one fits me, they're both too big (at least 2 sizes)... so I may end up letting them go soon.... :(

I'm thinking that maybe it was made by Adam for some store as a private label, I searched and couldn't find any information on it.
It says "Genuine Beaver" on one of the Gold Label Stamps on the liner, the other says "Deluxe Quality" and "Aqua Shed treated for water repellency, T.M."
The size...
Thanks for all the great info, as for the hat, as long as it fits (which I won't know for sure till i get it) then it was definitely worth 40 bucks to me, I guess that's the real underlying driver behind a purchase, but it's always good to know when one is overpaying or getting a great deal.
I was basing age off some of the conversations in this board about the Ivy League hat, according to a conversation some other members have, they believed that the early 50's model had the plastic protection in the top of the silk liner. The seller is also advertising it as 50's, but most of my...
