I've got a few pairs of Northampton made Eglish boots; heavy brogues from Church's, cap toes from Alfred Sargent and the superb Bleasedales from Grenson.
I love all of them but recently have taken an interest in proper American-made boots. Wolverine and White's in particular.
I've handled...
I think the other thread is for vintage watches. There are still a few modern hand-winders out there, and I thought it might be interesting to see them.
To get things started; here's my Poljot International Strela. The photo didn't turn out as well as hoped, as my Photobucket app adds a lot of compression.
I find Taylor of Old Bond Street consistently produces my favourite scents out of the St James' "3Ts" in particular their Mr Taylor's shave cream and Eton Cologne. For a very old school scent, Shave Shop and Sandalwood are also good. The latter doesn't actually smell much like a traditional...
I've decided to re-shape my Stetson Rancher that got beaten and battered on my trip back to England. Being a Brit I feel I need some education here; are there any faux pas when it comes to shaping a western hat?
I'm considering a reshape because the pinch fronted hats suit me better than the...
I'm planning to get the sunglasses to wear with a similar hat, for when I go shooting. It's like you've provided a custom picture service lol.
Thanks!
I'm going to order a pair but with the brown lenses, as I find they help with picking out targets in difficult light.
Any type, any colour. I don't have the opportunity to try a pair first (and returning an unwanted pair to America would be a pain) so I'm mainly looking for inspiration.
That is a great setup. You have three of the best soaps available and Truefitt products are superb. You can't go wrong with the DE89. For a great blade to match the DE89 Google "Personna Israeli Red"
One area you may want to upgrade in the future is moving to a silver tip brush. Nothing wrong...
The other day I dreamt that I ordered my wife a straw hat, and a pith helmet arrived instead.
When I woke up I was about to apologise for buying her a pith helmet, and then realised it was a dream!
There must be a company in the UK that sells pugarees, but I've had no luck finding one. Forum search has also yielded nothing.
Can anyone recommend a UK based supplier? Or, failing that, a reliable company the ships internationally?
Black Hats
I just picked up a black Akubra and it occurred to me that I don't see many black hays in general. Not on the forum or in general. Lots of silver-grey, fawn, cream et but not black.
Is there some sartorial rule concerning black hats that I'm not aware of?
I don't think it's to...
I grind my coffee using an excellent hand powered ceramic burr grinder I got from a coffee specialist in London. I favour Mocha Sidamo beans, and they stay fresh for a lot longer when whole rather than ground.
I still enjoy a Nescafe though; for when I can't be doing with the hassle of making...
I'm going to treat my wife to an Akubra. She won't choose one for herslef, thinking that they don't suit her. She's briefly tried on my Cattleman (in fawn) and it really suited her.
Would you say there are any Akubra styles that are particularly suited to Women?
You may ask why I don't...
I seem to have caught the Akubra bug. I have a Cattleman, with a Banjo Paterson on order, and am now eying up the Snowy River. I like the colour and hat band on the SR, but no so much the up-turned sides (and I have a Stetson for if I want that look).
How easy (or otherwise) would it be to...
Ummm... It's one of their new styles, along with the Styleman, Banjo River and Snowy Paterson... d'oh
Yep I meant cattleman; really looking forward to receiving it. :)
