I assume you know that older vintage open roads have more of a flatter brimmed teardrop shaped crown like many Akubra campdrafts are shaped. Akubra's can be shaped several ways including in a cattleman's crease. Modern open road Stetson's are more cowboy with a cattleman's shape, like LBJ's... -

My Akubra hats are almost all thicker and less moldable than some of my other felt hats. They are also all a little different from each other. I get better results by spraying them with cold distilled water to shape them than I do using steam. But I just have a little jiffy steamer. I...
