    Gloves

Hansens are nice gloves. I have had some pairs crack when worn again if the leather is deteriorated by age. If the leather is in good shape, they seem like they will last forever.

Opinions on the fit of these leather pants?

If they are not too uncomfortable to wear, you might want to wait for them to break in a bit before having any alterations done. Even the heavy leathers sometimes stretch and you might find they fit even better as they break in. This doesn’t apply to the inseam, of course :) The best advice I...

    Leather pants

These are a great find! You could try to clean the green corrosion off of the leather, since it might damage the leather surface over time. I think the corrosion will come off of the zippers themselves with more use. I have a pair like this that needed a repair on the inside of the leg, but it...

    Gloves

I got a pair of these, as well. I think they were on my gift list last Christmas. The break in was rough, but so worth it. I just used them for a clean out/moving project, and they really kept my hands from getting torn up. The elk skin is tough! You still get a lot of dexterity, though. The...

    Gloves

You’re right! It is a long, narrow tag for mine sewn into the cuff seam. It is skinny enough that I never noticed it before. Thanks for the heads up!

    Gloves

Do you know how to tell which of their older/vintage gloves are made in house? I have seen a few online listings with tags for gloves clearly made elsewhere, but some with no tags at all. I assume gloves don’t get numbers assigned/stamped like jackets and other, larger items.

    Gloves

I hope those knowledgeable people stay at Vanson and teach their skills to some of the new people there. Their gloves that are made in house are really great. Fit and quality are both top notch!

    Langlitz Cascade 44ish- NorCal sale?

Do you know whether the jacket is goatskin or one of Langlitz’s regular cow leathers?

    Thrifted HD Motorcycle Jacket

Great thrift find! I think the Obenauf’s leather oil is also really good at replacing slight musty or garage odors with a nice leather smell. When I use it, I try to make sure the leather surface is pretty clean, otherwise I worry that the oil might carry surface dirt into the leather fibers...

    Show your Langlitz

How are the Langlitz Class of ‘22 jackets breaking in? @Mrfrown I think you made the Langlitz with hoodie combo a thing for me. It is a great way to deal with our cold winter (and even colder foggy summer) nights here in SF.

    Cal-Leather

There is a new vintage store that opened near me. There are two really nice kids who run it. I like to try to support local vintage when I can.

    Cal-Leather

Thanks to this thread, I bought this jacket when I saw it. I think it is a Cal, but I am wondering what others think. The back looks spot on like a six panel to me. Finally, the arms are long enough for me! The chest and shoulders are a little tight, but it also feels like it will ease up with a...

Langlitz versus Cal-Leather....how wide is the gap? Asking for a friend

I’m going to add my 2 cents, even though I have less experience than others who have commented here. I have a Star Glove, 2 unlabeled vintage Cals, and a custom Langlitz Columbia. Star Glove and Cal are amazing vintage jackets. Plus, the number of unlabeled versions out there make the...

Vintage Cal - It's changing my outlook on things

Wow @Leigh H that is a beautiful Star Glove! Congrats on the find. The collar is amazing, too. The aging of the mouton can’t be duplicated in a modern collar. Thanks @Leather Walker for the confirmation of the black zippers on vintage Cals. It has all the other features of a Cal, but the...

Vintage Cal - It's changing my outlook on things

Did Cal go through a black YKK zipper period? Maybe in the 80s or 90s? I found an unlabeled jacket with the right stitch patterns, white canvas pocket bags and ball point pen size label in the pocket. I think it is a Cal. I will post pics tomorrow if there is enough sun.

    Baracuta G4 sz40 Classic Mist

Thanks for posting this jacket! Yours is too small for me, but you have convinced me to buy one I found in my size in a local vintage shop. Your posting gave me a reliable connection between the model (G4) and the RN 125041 on the tag. Also, this is the only mention I could find of the side...

    US glove makers

Hi Everyone! I have been doing a little bit of research on glove makers that still operate in the US. I think I have a west coast bias in my list because I like the Pac Northwest brands so much. Am I missing any major makers on my list? Geier in Centralia, WA Churchill (also in Centralia, WA?)...
