How not to look like Indiana Jones?
Indy I have a brown leather "flight" jacket and a brown hat that is close enough to Indy. I had the foresight to anticipate Indy jokes, so I never wear that combination together. When I wear my Western hat however, I just smile at people, give a little wave and say, "Howdy." So far it works...- pplepic

CHURCHILL HATS
Box I have a black Churchill hat box, but I got it at a flea market with a dandy Biltmore hat inside. The box is good condition however, and has a leatherette belt. Maybe someday I'll run into a Churchill hat to put in it.:) -
Feathers in your hatbands?
Feathers? I takes them as they come. I have two hats with feathers and I haven't removed them. The others came to me without, so I haven't added anything. Personally I don't care for those little Stetson pins etc that come with many hats. They go into the funky jewelry box. -
Brims - How do you like them
Brims up Then again, maybe those old politicians had the brim up because they rode around a lot in those open vehicles with the wind in their smiling faces. I wore mine brim up today and I think I looked cheery even if I didn't feel that way. -

Great Video That charming woman on the youtube site gives an excellent example of rolling and unrolling a Panama hat. I like my Stetson Panama, but there's no rolling. It feels as if it had two cans of hairspray applied to it. That part I don't like. I always thought a Panama should be soft... -

Roosevelt et al. Brim down looks a bit more dignified (and if you're a private eye) downright de rigueur. Looking back, the lighthearted guys like Jack Oakie, and his generation always wore their hats brim up, while serious detectives like Philip Marlowe always wore them brim down. I think... -
