63 Years Later

One Too Many
This coming Sunday, the 18th, 16,000 residents of Chofu, a city right outside the central Tokyo city limits, will be evacuated for over 5 hours while the Japanese SDF bomb disposal squad will deal with a 1T dud that lies in the construction site where Keio Transit is constructing an underground railway.
The designated evacuation area includes a university hospital that has over 600 beds, a hospital that I once worked in, as it is one of the branch hospitals of the medical school I was affiliated with for over 20 years. If they have to evacuate all the patients, that in itself is going to be a very big operation. :eusa_doh:

The existence of the dud was first reported by an old man, who was a boy when he saw a Hien fighter ram into a B-29 in April, 1945, and recorded it in his diary including a sketch that shows the tail logo, TO 42 (or T0 42).

Full story here. Man's 63-year-old sketch pin points WWII dud bomb.
