a-2 jacket collars

my brother wants to get a a-2 jacket the company sells both stand collar and with out the stand collar which is better or does it matter thanks alot happy turkey day

Stand collars are a little more like dress shirt collars - the stand is like the band on a shirt only not as wide. It makes the collar sit up a little higher, especially in back. Some guys find them less comfortable than simple-attached (collar made a little deeper and just folded over). I like both.

I have both stand and no stand collars. Personally I prefer the stand but your mileage may vary.

Both my A2s are later contract models without the collar stand. I would eventually like to have one with, but it's not something that I would consider important enough to be a deciding factor in the purchase of an A2 if I was simply looking for one good A2 type jacket to wear as a civilian. Overall fit would be more of an issue to me.
