When you say western yoke, is that 1 point or 2?
1 point is great on a biker jacket...for 2, I’d pare down the other bling and make it more “aviator” style. Then you could do yokes on the front as well.

I was thinking single point yoke. Double sounds a bit much for the stripped-down design I’m looking for.

I’m still reading about Aero’s leather offerings and not seeing quite what I’m looking for.

My first Aero was a stripped down Aviator style D-pocket:

I asked for that specific D-pocket, a double back yoke, no chest pocket and no zipper on the handwarmer.

IMO it looks nicer than the Ridley wich i think fails to capture the J-24 vibe fully.
If you want a "real" J-24 there are other makers who IMO make a much nicer one.

Thanks @Carlos840 you always bring great insight to any of my fumbling questions.

I’m not really looking for authenticity with this one. Just a slim fitting basic cross-zip in a nice mid-weight brown, much like the one I’m about to return.

Next question: some cross-zips cut away far more than others at the stomach when unzipped (giving it an X shape rather than II, it that makes sense). Is that just a factor of size or is it also the design/model. Not sure if I’m explaining that well - I might need to find some examples.

Have a look at my database, i have many cross zips on there:

If i understand what you are asking properly, i would say that different cross zips fall differently when open depending on design.
Some like the Lost Worlds Leathertogs have a very big overlap and will fall in an X/ bell shape when open.
Some like the bootlegger have a much smaller overlap of the lapels and will fall much straighter when worn open.
To me this is a design feature, not depending on sizing.

Thanks. There go my plans for today, hahah!

I would give Thedi and Field Leathers a look too.
Aero’s specialty is the CXL.

I did send Greg a message. The brown shinki on his Instagram is out of this world.

The Vanson Daredevil also checks a lot of my boxes.

I started this journey in March, debating whether to buy a Schott during their big sale and thinking that was still a lot to spend on a second leather jacket. Now, here I am, looking at a third attempt and contemplating spending three times that.

I have a single point yoke. I do not wear this jacket un-zipped, so wanted it comfortable zipped every time. Don't over-think these - a lot of options out there!

I had a really nice J106. I really, really wish I kept that one. The list of mods was never-ending but the result was SO cool and I recall it being made from the nicest batch of CXL I'd ever handled and then of course I went stupid and sold it because God forbid I ever do anything smart with my life...

Whatever you choose Justin, I would recommend you taper the waist. In Aero’s case, this might mean drop sizing (ex. 38” tapered to a 36” waist). I would do this absolutely if you are considering a Halfbelt back like a bootlegger or hooch.
