Akubra hat with a bit bigger brim and crown than their Campdraft?

I would like to know if Akubra makes a hat with a bit bigger brim and crown than their Campdraft? I ideally it would have a bound brim like the Campdraft and it would be in silverbelly. I would want to give it a typical Open Road bash.

Also, where's the best place to order an Akubra in the US? Thanks.

I don't know of any Akubra like that. Even worse, the USA importer of Akubras further limits you by not offering anything in silverbelly, as far as I know. He seems to like felt in really dark colors.

I was looking for the same thing and here's the closest I've found (and best price) - the Akubra Bushman (on the Wrangler page you will have to scroll down). It does not come in silverbelly and has a metal grommet above the ribbon. I've not seen one in person yet, but there is a TFL thread dedicated to this hat. It will likely be my next purchase.

Here more info on the Bushman:

I also have two Campdrafts in Heritage grade - Moonstone and Silverbelly. The brims and crowns seem larger and fuller than standard grade Campdrafts. Here's who I ordered them from:

There are a few wide and bound brim options from EA in similar colors:

Ask Sam if you can get it without the side hard ware.

See sand color

Good luck in finding something that you like!

Sorry - just noticed the US comment. I have never bought an Akubra here.

Thank you all for the wonderful information and sources. I really appreciate it.

N.B. I should have said "where's the best place to order an Akubra hat that's in the US or ships to the US."

I'm with Jackie. the Bushman is probably the closest thing but the crown, as he pointed out, is not taller.

I have purchased from all with good results, as well as David Morgan. Choice depends on which one has what you want and total price including shipping. Oh, and how long you're willing to wait.

I have two Campdrafts and two Bushmen. Bushman noticeably larger, but very similar in appearance depending on how you bash them. I also have a couple of Squatters that are a little shorter in the crown, but can be bashed in a similar manner.

The Bushman feels like a lot of hat. I've thought of getting the chin straps for it just because it's an option.

I'd go for the CD rather than the Bushman, unless I was fine with the wider brim, shorter crown and no option for silverbelly. The Akubra importer in the USA is making a mistake by not offering the Campdraft, IMO (in silverbelly, if he really wants to meet the demand).

I would write or call Sam Menche at Everything Australian and clearly state what you want. He is a pleasure to deal with and knows of items which are available, but not listed on the general website.

He also examines the hats before they are sent - unlike another outfit which sends them with problems and expects the customer to foot the bill for returning a defective item and considering the sale cancelled because their product was not acceptable. Considering the time, distance and shipping cost, this should be a reasonable expectation. Shipping is also less with EA while they offer tracking - even at the lower cost.

The down side is that some hats have a 3 month wait from the factory.

Sam will attend to special needs or wants.

BTW this is not just what I would do. When I want a hat, I call Sam first to see if he can get what is desired.

I just ordered a Bushman from Bluewater Group (http://www.wrangleroutpost.com/akubra_hatindex.html) and apparently they keep them in stock - of course the size he's out of is mine. But they advised hat shipments come about every four days and it should be on the way sometime next week. This is my first Bushman and first time ordering from this seller - I will let you know how it works out with both.
