John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. I like the new liners, and I think they've done a great branding job with their new website, models, liner changes, and general communications. They are much pricier than before but I think well situated in the market now.Following on order and not turned up as not in stock sale I got another one but this time the item was damaged. But instead of a refund they set a newly minted version of the Bogart. Note the new at least to me hat liner.

And I’m late in thanking you. I ve went horse hair gray and black hat band, replacing the ribbon. Will bash it this weekend with either full cattleman or side dents only. (I think)I know this is an old post and you’ve probably made up your mind by now, but I screenshot this the other day as I had the same thoughts.
I’m guessing most on this site know years ago, Stetson out sourced Open Roads to Akubra. They have a long history of this, with purely American Western style hats in various models and dress hats, and this since many years if not throughout their whole history.
I have a number of Akubra hats mainly inspired by the characters on various TV shows. The current one that interests me is the hat worn by Joe Leaphorn in Dark winds.
Reading here and in other places the general consensus is that it could be a variation of the Stetson Open Road although the OR does not have a leather hat band. The Akubra folks say that the closest of theirs could be the campdraft also without leather hat band. With the new ownership of Akubra prices are way higher than they used to be and it's no longer attractive to order from Australia (I am in the US) which I would have taken a chance even of the campdraft was not perfect. Right now the campdraft is $240 from the US distributor and the OR is $315 and I would still need to find a leather hat band.
What are your suggestions for a hat that would most closely resemble the Leaphorn hat?

I think for the money you’d be best off with the CD, especially if you can get a Heritage anywhere. Then the Stetson OR. Change the ribbon band to leather. Or a Stetson rancher, trim the brim and have a ribbon binding put on and add the leather band. I’ve never been sure if Leaphorn’s has a bound brim or notI have a number of Akubra hats mainly inspired by the characters on various TV shows. Just purchased a Bogart from David Morgan. Seems they have some old stock they must be clearing out. Not sure of all they styles they have, but I'd never seen a Bogart there before and they were at a good price for any new Akubra these days. Hopefully this bump will help those who may be interested.
I figured perhaps old stock because I thought they were going for even higher prices than these. Maybe this is good news.I just had a look at their online listings and they are actually quite robust. I can't imagine these are new old stock. They have moonstone Adventurers, for example, as well as bluegrass green Campdrafts. I don't remember these colors being on offer consistently before.
AND they seem to have a full stock of sizes.
The prices are noticeably increased - $240 for imperial felt and $280 for heritage. That's still an okay price imo. If I had need of a new Akubra, I certainly would not hesitate.
Let's hope this portends new horizons for the company.
Great White Shark/ Greg Norman Question:
Lost in a ocean of Akubra's. Having some Australian roots it would be nice to have one but which one?
I like at least 3 1/4 inch brim.
Looking toward Snowy River a classic which I think is 3 1/4 brim but can't find anything about the Great White Shark in brim width...
Anyone know what the brim width of the Great White Shark is?
Thanks!!!!
Thanks for the observation. I was able to get some info on the measure of one or two of them & they come in about 3 inches. They could have been cut down too. I'd like at least 3 1/4 inch for the sun but it's an interesting hat made for a Australian Golfer & it has a cool shark. The Boss is 3 1/2 inch & the Snowy River 3 1/4. I guess 1/4 inch smaller brim than the Snowy River is not that much but the Snowy looks more like a Fedora & the Shark has a off look to me compared to the Snowy.I couldn't find the measurements anywhere but to my eye it must be at least 3 ½", though it's hard to judge from pictures because the crown has a noticeable taper.
