My new VS custom. Dove color, 2 1/2" brim, about 1 1/2" ribbon.

I am curious as to the brim edge treatment. My VS's all have a binding edge. I ike the way it allows the brim to snap down/up and the color contrast to the eye. I am considering a different edge treatment. Any sage (or in your new hat's case "dove,") advise to pass along?

Most of my VS's have a ribbon bound brim. Some have welted edges (both thin and wider underwelts), one has a raw edge (Oxblood).
The raw edge can look very smart, you may want to give it a try. Raw brims can of course have a snap as well, but they don't respond exactly in the same way as the bound brims when being handled.

For some reason (or maybe none at all), I would consider a raw brim especially for the dark felts. I'm sure the light ones look just as good with it, but the bound brims in different shades of silver are just too darn beautiful.

Good idea to try a different brim treatment, Eric. Of my VS's, two are bound edge and two welted. Art's welted edges are really nicely done, probably as close as you are going to get a Cavanagh in a modern hat - really hard to see any stitches.

This one appears to be quite true to the actual color:

And still more Sunsets...
Pics of one and the same hat are grouped together.
The last one is another shot of D'Guy's Sunset.

These are most of the VS Sunsets posted in the Hall of Fame (I've saved nearly every pic from this thread). There are still more shots of some of these hats, though.

Mine is on page 426 of this post. However, I think Rabbit has added it to the above posts.

Cliff

Yes, it's the one on the car roof and below that, with the Black Cherry. Sunset is apparently very difficult to capture - the car roof shot is really a good one, Cliff, judging from the felt sample.

Three more shots from D'Guy - the first is Sunset atop Camel:

And yet another Sunset:

No problem-o, seabass.

...so is it safe to say SUNSET has peachy tones...

Indeed, the Sunset felt does have peachy tones.

Here's Art's original post from when the color came out:
http://www.thefedoralounge.com/show...t-Hall-of-Fame&p=998382&viewfull=1#post998382

The VS Sunset felt was made after a vintage hat from Andykev, which you can see here:

Note that the color of this particular hat is not identical to the VS Sunset.

Please excuse the Off Topic here, folks, but I have to ask.....:p

Rabbit, what is that turntable in the pics? I see what looks like a Galibier? with a Schroeder arm/Allaerts cartridge, (plus a modded Rega?), and possibly Mag pod feet? Or is it a Grandeeza or something like that?

Nice set up, but especially curious as to the TT.
Oh, and nice hat too!!

Thanks,
Rob
