Wish I could help, but unfortunately my interest and therefore knowledge of Schott stops right around the late 80’s.@jeo , asking the resident schott export
@ABCD your moment of fame haha:
You can wear a peacoat in the rain? I would assume the wool would just get drenched and so would youThe leather jacket rabbit hole… until discover a deck jacket and peacoat, and realize you can look amazing and be able to wear it in a thunderstorm without ruining it.
A leather jacket is like the first girl you fall in love with, you high school sweetheart. Your first. Nothing comes to the passion or excitement you had for her.
But a good peacoat or deck jacket is like woman you end up marrying. Versatile, mature, and someone that will mature with you.
But unless ladies, unless you’re Mormon, at least with jackets, you can keep both.
It will get heavy but you’ll still be warm. That’s why navies used the Peacoat for so long, wool doesn’t loose that much heat when wet.You can wear a peacoat in the rain? I would assume the wool would just get drenched and so would you
neither stupid nor brave, but they know what they are doing. I've soaked dozens of leather jackets on my motorbike in the past and my Aeros and Lewis Leather have also got very wet. No problem at all. Chromexcel in particular is almost like a rain jacket for me.Some people might say their leather jacket can get rained on and be fine, but you are buying for life that generally means $1000 plus on a leather jacket, you’re either pretty brave or pretty stupid to test that out empirically.
Well I guess you learn something new every day. I soaked a Schott once a while ago but since I was getting rid of it anyway I never really cared or checked if it was alright after.neither stupid nor brave, but they know what they are doing. But why I still find a deck jacket nice in bad weather is that it is simply cosier and a leather jacket is colder.
No, everything is fine. The only thing I make sure of is that the wet jackets don't dry with heat. But otherwise everything is fine. I used to apply cream to the motorbike jackets from time to time when the leather felt a bit dry. But that was also very rare.Your jackets honestly showed no signs of cracking or damage after the rain?
Does the type of leather matter? I’m scared of ruining my Real McCoy A2, considering those cost an arm and a kidneyNo, everything is fine. Talk about being misinformed eh? That's okay, you came to the right place to learn. That’s crazy I was always told wearing leather in the rain was a death sentence
Generally chrome-tanned leather has better water repellency.Does the type of leather matter? I’m scared of ruining my Real McCoy A2, considering those cost an arm and a kidney
Great leathers does leather restoration.Thinking of buying a used leather jacket, but the seller has said there’s a white mark on the jacket that resembles mold. Is this mold and is the jacket ruined, or is it easily redeemable?

Do you think this leather needs restoration?Great leathers does leather restoration.
If has mold on it probablyDo you think this leather needs restoration?
I mean I don’t know why you would buy a jacket that’s already moldy and restore it? Just save up your money for a better jacket or buy another used jacket that isn’t moldy. I’d rather buy a brand new polyester jacket than a moldy leather one imo.I had a Fox Creek motorcycle jacket that was a mold magnet. I had to wipe it down every day. After loosing the battle for 6 months I sold it.
Once the mold spores get imbedded in the leather they are difficult to stop. I think it was just a bad batch of leather.
My house is kept at 35% humidity. I fought a tough battle but the spores won.
