Bill's Khakis - waist size question

How are Bill's Khakis sized in the waist compared to other trousers? I am somewhere between a 38 and 36.

I normally wear a 36 or 38, but the 38 looked pinched. So I got a 40 (with a LOT of grumbling), and it's probably too big. They slide down a lot and I had them cuffed for a no-break length, so...

I have found them to be pretty true in size. I usually wear a 32, and my Bill's in 32 fit me fine. By far the best khakis I have ever owned.
