Just won this beauty! A vintage leather cap that looks early 1950's at least. It's my birthday present to myself! I've got plans for this one! Here's the auction pictures! It's going to end up adorned with a Korean War era USAF patch or two.

The 3 C's: Cool, Color & Cap.

Cool color cap Dean. I'll be waiting to see pics of your creation. By the way, my youngest Daughter will turn 12 on Christmas day. I think that it would be much harder to grow up with your birthday three days after Christmas then on the blessed day itself.

Your kind responses are appreciated, RBH, INDCop, Razz, ColJack, and Marty! My idea for this hat was inspired by these examples of B-29 crew caps from the Korean War Era:

I have the intention of adding this patch:

and one for the 19th Bomb Wing, and maybe 20th Air Force when I find one. Here's a great link to a site that fueled my interest in this project:

I might add, that this hat will represent one of an aerial photographer crewman, an inspiration by being a friend of, fatwoul, my UK buddy in the Lounge. I can imagine a few of us here I've come to know as the crew of our own B-29 serving the cause of freedom. History and imgagination have long been one of my sources of enjoyment.

Dean, That is going to be one cool cap. Looking forward to the photos.

BTW, I just won a WWII crusher on Ebay yesterday. I'll volunteer to join your flight crew. I may carry an old Open Road to try out more campaign bashes during downtime.

I agree with Marty regarding December birthdays. Especially those that fall near Cgristmas. Our son's is December 20 and my Mom's is December 24.

Thanks, Carter! December birthday, late December, also meant I never had one of those school parties because we were always out of school for Christmas. Oh, well. I'm way past that. Can you fly a B-29?lol I'd like to be a bombardier.

Nope, can't fly a B-29. :( Almost nailed a 1st Alternate Appointment to the Air Force Academy but couldn't pass the vision test on my 2nd flight physical. :( However, my Dad served as a mechanic in the AAC during WWII. I still have his suitcase with all his duty stations stenciled on it.

Neither my son or daughter ever have one of those school parties either. His birthday falls during the holiday and her's is two weeks after school let's out for Summer. It's actually tougher for her since tons of families head out of town as soon as school lets out.
