Birthday with girlfriend

Hello, Im looking for ideas for my girlfriends birthday. The date is August 13th,
I would like to make it special because the 14th I leave on vacation for two weeks then when I come back I sign the enlistment papers for the Navy.
I was thinking a nice dinner in the city. I was hoping you could suggest a few places. I was thinking the Rainbow Room, but then again I just like wearing my tux. Maybe somewhere less showy

I spent a summer MC-ing cruises around the harbor. Spirit Cruises and World Yacht are two companies that do it. Food isn't great, but it's passable. It can be VERY romantic. In general, water is good. If you want to spend a freakin' fortune, River Cafe in Brooklyn Heights is fabulous.

the best birthday you could give a girl is one from the heart, a home cooked meal, soft music playing, a quaint setting, maybe a ride to a special place at night, doesn't have to be fancy or expensive, just personal

As a military wife I say take her out somewhere nice and wear your tux. She'll have plenty of home cooked meals, alone, while you're gone.
