Black Mold Spots on Hat's Leather Sweatband

In my overzealousness to avoid moth damage to one of my favorite vintage hats, I stowed it away in a rather tightly sealed archival storage box, without consideration for the moisture I sealed away with the hat. Unfortunately, these little dark spots have developed on the thin beige-colored leather sweatband.

Has anybody else encountered this problem? And if so, were you able to remove the spots without damaging or discoloring the leather sweatband?

One thing to do for future reference is to not seal the hat in an airtight container.
A standard hatbox should do.

Denatured alcohol will normally kill the mold Deacon. Just wipe it on & let dry.
