As an English teacher and a hat enthusiast, I have my students read the book, Boss of the Plains, a story about John B. Stetson and how he created his famous hat. I have been looking for a true version of this hat without much luck. Does anyone know of a venue to find one? What might I expect to pay for a less-than-perfect version? Are they even available?

Thank you.

I've got 4. Like Aureliano says, I've got two up now on ebay- planning on putting up a third tomorrow.

Anyone see the recent episode of Pawn Stars where the guy thought he bouth an authentic, screen used John Wayne hat? As soon as they showed it was size 7 1/8 I said to my wife, "no way that belonged to the Duke", and the expert started with the same observation.

Poor guy got ripped off.
