The hat is not in great shape, its a black bowler derby with a leather embossed sweatband.

I can’t seem to make out the name but I can read the words “American” and
“Warranted”. It has a paper label.

thanks for the help! 3DCF8C4F-80C2-4EE1-B84C-CB3B73B29F40.jpeg B5143CAE-55C4-41DC-9D5F-971DB3467AB1.jpeg B5143CAE-55C4-41DC-9D5F-971DB3467AB1.jpeg 3DCF8C4F-80C2-4EE1-B84C-CB3B73B29F40.jpeg

The union label will most likely date the hat more accurately than the sweatband logo. Someone will be along & no doubt give you at least a time period for when that particular label was used.

The specific Union Label makes it pre-1934. I don't recognize the sweatmark. There was "The American Hat Co." which was seen on pre-1934, but the ones I've seen are always marked "The American Hat Co.".

You should browse thru issues of the American Hatter on google books. That would be the best resource.
