It is really hard to browse the classifieds for just hats. Is there something I’m missing? I have to read every thread title and it takes forever to find a hat, and I don’t know all the hat brand names so it’s hard to know if something is a jacket or shoes unless it says in the title. It would be awful helpful for browsers if the title started with WTS/WTT/WTB and then what the item is Hat/Jacket/Jeans/etc. Just a thought.
Agreed and I've tried more than once to suggest to management that we have a seperate classifieds section just for hats but it was shot down. Sadly, I don't see this changing any time soon.
Same sentiments here guys. If the listing even just ended in a category name, it would save time and make it more likely that I would look more frequently.
I understand the frustration and felt the same way when I first started browsing. However, I have noticed most hats don't last long (since I try to avoid impulse buys I always miss out as I sit and think on it), and if they do they end up on ebay. I just keep my eye on the classifieds daily since anything older than a few weeks seems to get moved to Ebay.
Yes, the hats do not tend to last too long. That is one reason that more quickly and easily being able to access the listings would be helpful. For those who cannot check the internet very often while working or while otherwise occupied, it would simply make the process easier.
The best way to avoid this is to check the classifieds 10+ times a day. When there are only one or two new items from the last time you checked you’re not inconvenienced by the lack of a separate hats section of the classifieds. If you don’t check 10+ times a day some beach bum will scoop “your” black cherry custom from under you. Yeah, that’s right; I’m talking to you David @jonesy86
Sorry Brent! I do check 10 times a day, but if is any consolation, some are a little more angry with me over on the leather jacket side. I have been accused of a monopoly over one custom maker.
Buy all the leather jackets you want. Maybe we could work out a schedule: I’ll check on the half-hour and you can check on the hour.
How about a "standard" for a hat listing in the title.like "**HAT...". So, "**HAT for sale", "**HAT wanted", "**HAT for trade". It would also be nice, as I've asked many times, if sellers wouldn't take up the whole front page with multiple separate listings. And then bumping them all at once in a day or two. B
That accusation is completely justified I must say. But sell me the two-tone Arcadia and all will be forgiven.
Too many rules, says me. Just be smart about how you list as seller, and search as buyer. All part of the hunt!!
Unfortunately it wouldn't work. What you see below is what would happen with any such keyword (hat, jacket,..). Search Results for Query: hat The search could not be completed because the search keywords were too short, too long, or too common.
The most helpful thing would be to set a bump limit (on the seller side) on posts. I’ve seen jackets linger here for months with excessive bumping. Set a three bump max...after that it gets buried or sent to eBay.
I often click on a thread thinking it's something I care for, only to discover it's a fedora which possibly couldn't interest me any less but it honestly never bothered me.
Not sure I'd agree with that. I'm still receiving PM's about items I've listed in the past, whether they're available and it's usually the stuff I never thought I'd sell here. Yesterday I got two PM's about my IH gear. These people would've probably bought what I listed right away if they were around to catch it when I made the threads. There always seems to be someone who's going to buy what we are selling, just that they may not be around at the time we make the thread so limiting the exposure doesn't do anyone any good. Excessive bumping sucks but a weekly bump is okay. I don't think it clogs up new threads as long as it's not like ton of stuff being bumped at once. It's good to have an alternative to eBay.
I came to the Lounge for hats. Clicked on a few adverts for jackets out of curiosity......now I have 5 leather jackets.
