Clothing repairs

i myself am experienced in sewing, know the basics like repairing seams and buttons & button holes. I bought a few jackets for a very cheap price from a person unaware of what they are. One of the jackets (1940s Hollywood) has a dislocated shoulder pad that awkwardly sticks out and I was wondering what the easiest way to go about this is.

reverse jacket to its left side, open up liner seam at the shoulder/ top end of armhole, peek under it. The shoulder pad will be a layered set of different materials and they'll be bunched up somehow. Remove and if necessary compare against the other shoulder (same procedure) to see if it's sufficient to straighten the layers out.
