Hey guys,
I'm a fan of Japanese denim and heritage wear, and recently have gotten into Japanese Leathercrafts.
a couple months ago I bought an Accel Fireman Buckle Belt in black and I absolutely adore it, however I am struggling to find any examples of how this type of leather may age and was hoping you guys might have some examples of similar leathers and how they've aged. For specs, the leather used is 33mm Benz J&FJ Baker saddle leather.
I am aware in these communities teacore leather is definitely a coveted thing (I also have a black horsehide teacore bag from Accel which I too adore) and as such I've seen heaps of examples of how different teacore leathers will age and patina, however there seems to be very little discussion/examples as to how regular vegtanned and dyed leather will age.
From my naive understanding, teacore leather is (similar to other denim/heritage wear goods) intended for rather rapid ageing/patina development. I imagine it will take many more years for my belt to start developing any ageing, however I am just struggling to find any photos of regular dyed leather patina.
I am also wondering how the thickness of the dye will impact this. I've included some photos (excuse the poor quality) of my belt compared to another of the same model where you can see the dye penetration. Mine is the one which seems to have a thinner coat of dye (belt hole photo mine is the one below and in the buckle photo mine is the one of the right), however I imagine this could also possibly be due to having worn this belt for every day for some months now vs. the new unworn one.
Was just hoping if you guys had any photos of similar leather items and how they've developed over time!
