Crime by Night is one of those '40s detective movies. This one has Jerome Cowan for once playing a leading role as a dapper sharp tongued detective. Not a bad film for its time and I particularly liked the way Mr. Cowan looked and wore his fedora. The small town sheriff looked good too in a suitable more western style hat while the DA wore a boater and tried to look like WC Fields.
